Shuttle Experience

Good find mate
truly awesome, I love space, love the space program, even the Imax films sent shivers down my spine, this may just send me over the edge !!

Florida attractions certainly put the brits to shame .....

This ride is sooo cool!

I went on it in Feburary and though it doesn't spin like mission space it does tip you up for lift off at almost 90 degrees! (I verified it by dangling a lanyard once we were in launch position and it was almost 90 degrees back over my shoulder).

This ride is great, I'd definately be tempted to go back just for the ride.

We did the ride last summer - it's awsome!!

There are lockers before you go into the ride - think they are about $1 each but then you get that back when you put your key in & turn it.

When they say any loose articles or change in your pockets etc must be stored LISTEN TO THEM - you can actually hear the coins dropping in the footage (about when he says 30 seconds from launch).

The weightlessness feeling is awsome and the extra surprise at the end with the payload doors had me and quite a few others in tears it's amazing.

I love Mission Space as well but don't think you can really compare the 2 to be honest - this really is a true life experience simulator and for ANY space junkie is unmissible.

One point - before you load into the shuttle the briefing area before is very loud - my son was quite scared but we coaxed him round and he loved the ride - don't let it put you off!!

For those of you have already been on this, what is it like in comparison to Mission Space - as in, motion sickness problems?

I do suffer from sickness on some simulators - can't do startours, mission space or the helicopter ride into seaworld arctic.

Did this last Dec. No problems with motion sickness as it only tilts back and shakes a bit. Worth doing it just for the end bit, try it....

The two do not compare as they are very different. It would be nice if you could get a combination of the two as that would really be realistic!

You get shaken a lot on the shuttle launch (think star trek bad acting) but no actual g force or movement. It is fun and worth doing but personally I prefer Mission Space. Kennedy Space Centre is always worth a visit - we got APs last trip and went twice and will go again in December. The latest Imax of walking on the moon is really clever.

what sort of ticket,do you purchase,do be able to do all the simulators etc?
this is the only thing left,to sort out.so would be grateful, for any advice.
thanks tracy

Any entrance ticket will get you onto the shuttle experience and into the IMax. Don't forget about Astronaut hall of fame where they have even more simulators to try.

From your replies its obviously not new :rotfl: We havn't been to Kennedy since, I think, 95'. It must have changed so much. We are going next year with the in-laws. Looking forward to all the changes, will now have to allow more time there. :)
