I searched the forum and read that DVC doesn't offer transportation from the airport in Orlando, but what is the best way to make a reservation. Should I call member services or it seems that alot of people like Mears. Also, how much would this cost as we have always driven in the past, but now with some creative bookkeeping, we can make more trips to Disney using our points!

It depends on how many people are in your party. When I went on my honeymoon it was cheaper to use Mears, but the last time I went there were six of us and it was better to use a car service.

We have used Florida Town car and have been pleased. We especially like the 30 minute grocery store stop.

We are a family of four and also prefer Towncar Service. On our last trip we scheduled service from Airport-Universal-WDW-Airport and it was still cheaper than using Mears or renting a car big enough to hold all of our luggage (full-size cars don't always have full-size trunks!). I also like the fact that they send the car when you need it, instead of trying to "lump" several groups into one pick-up time. Use your search engine for "Orlando Towncar Service" and check out each of the websites to see who has the best rate. Also, many of their sites have coupons for $5 or $10 off. Good luck and have fun on your trip!!!

I've only used Mears once and it was many years ago, but our hotel was the last of three and the trip from the airport to the hotel took over an hour and a half. I'm a firm believer in time is money at Disney, so I'd go for a towncar

We have only used Mears, but I agree with everyone. It takes a lonnnng time. We have recently started driving down, but in the future, should we fly down again, I think I will look into a car service, too.

We've been using FL Tours- who has a great job for us ... and they are one of the corporate sponsors for this website.

I'll nove this to the Transportation Board for you, since that's a better source for questions about transportation.

Enjoy!

There are only two of us, but we still use Happy Limo rather than Mears. For parties of three or more, a towncar is cheaper than Mears, but many people don't realize that. But even with just us, we prefer a private vehicle to getting herded into a crowded van and enduring multiple stops.

What are the options for a family of 5? Can you rent a town car or are you stuck with the shuttle.

I've looked at happy limo and FL tours and both seem cheaper then mears which is what disney stuck us with.

We are still debating whether or not to rent a car.

Any advice is appriciated.

When there were five of us (two couples and a teenager), we used a limo rather than a towncar. Happy Limo also once picked us up in a large SUV...I think it was an Excursion. On that trip, there was only the two of us, so I'm not sure how many people it could have fit.

With five people, Mears is no longer cheapest as they charge per person. If you don't mind shopping around when you get off the p0lane, you can find a car service or town car or limo wihtout a reservation.

Many Disney packages include Mears shuttle service but you should not have to pay for it if it is itemized separately and you don'[t want it.,
