Shutters, the wave or something else?

so I decided to change our resort from AOA to two rooms at CBR. We are eating lunch in the world showcase, but we decided not to do yachtsman that night. It's our first night there after driving in that morning and I'm afraid everyone will be a little to cranky to enjoy it. So our options are go to Shutters at the resort and be able to go to bed early, maybe hop the monorail to the wave, or I'm open to other suggestions that I can go I park clothes with a two year old that may be in a bad mood (i.e. No signatures) I've seen so so reviews of Shutters but man that would sure be the easiest.

I am a huge fan of the wave but seeing that you are driving in that morning with a 2 yo I would opt for the Shutters. I have eaten there when I stayed at CBR and it was good. I do prefer the Wave but in this case it may not be worth it.

We really aren't picky some of the reviews are just bad. Was the food passable?

The food was ok. I will put it this way... I am not rushing back there but I would not say I would never go there again.

I would recommend eating at your resort, after a long day it is so nice to eat there and then just walk back to your room. I've read good things about Shutters. We are staying at CBR in Sept and plan to eat there one night.

OK, I am going to take a stab at this. I am assuming you will be going to Magic Kingdom this day because of its proximity to the Wave? No signatures because of dress code, so money is not an issue. You only mentioned Wave and Shutters, which are sit downs, so, I guess you want suggestions on sit downs that will help facilitate your family to an early evening? The Wave is an excellent choice and I would also consider Kona Cafe'. I have ate at both restaurants multiple times and have never been disappointed(they both have pretty good reviews too). I have never ate at Shutters, but I also have never heard/read anything to motivate me to eat there. My 2 cents.

I would just eat at Shutters and call it an earlier evening your first day there. We have not had the pleasure of dining there yet, but the reviews the past couple of years have been increasingly positive. And other guests raved about it when we were at CBR last year. It's definitely on our to do list for the next trip.

I would go to Shutters that night. It is a nice way to relax after a long drive and park day. We are going to eat dinner at our resort, Boatwrights at POR, on our arrival date. We will be waking up at 3am to fly to Orlando, so a quiet evening will be nice.

Ok guys I think you have me convinced! I really wanted to eat at our resort but I saw a few negative reviews when I searched on here and it scared me awwy. I think I'll give it a shot.

I really liked Shutters...we stayed at CBR several times and did not get around to eating there until our last visit at CBR...we were pleasantly surprised and wished we had tried it sooner..

We have eaten at Shutters twice. No complaints either time. And they have my favorite alcoholic drink- Captain Banana o

Yeah, add me to the Shutters group. We stayed at CBR and wanted to eat there but never got around to it. I have heard it is really good. I would eat there, then maybe go swimming and call it an early eventing.

I would stay at the hotel and eat Shutters myself. If you have another MK day, you could get a quiet Breakfast or Dinner at The Wave. It would be a close by break and you can get a break from the parks without going back to CBR.

On your arrival day, I would not go to a TS restaurant but just eat Quick service (much faster) save TS to the next day after resting. You would be able to enjoy your Resort, it's very Beautiful, lush landscaping, Nice pool.

With a day of travel and a 2yo, it might be better to get quick service at the resort instead of making everyone sit for a meal. The food court at CBR is really good and you can take your food outside to the tables there to eat. A little fresh air can do wonders after a long car trip. Plus, the pool area is right there and you are a very short walk from the beach, no swimming there, and the island.

You probably don't need an ADR for Shutters. When it's time to eat, decide if your kid will be okay to eat at a TS then either ask at the podium for a table or quickly make an ADR on the app.

That is exactly what I was about to say.... Save that table service, eat at food court, and swim and enjoy resort. :)

We always go to a restaurant that is at (or near) or resort on the first day. There is something nice about being able to relax and take in the resort after a day of travel. You don't feel like you have to rush off to get somewhere, and you can start enjoying your resort.

We really like Shutters! I vote "relax at your resort" along with several others here. The food was delicious, fresh, and hot. The service was good and it was not hectic in there even though it is right next to the food court (in closed off rooms.)
