do we think this would be a good parents present? i wanted to get them flush mount albums, but they are so expensive. did anyone get randy's flush mount album? do the shutterfly books look like they are good quality?

I'm gonna do the exact same thing. The shutterfly books look just like one of the artistic albums Disney offers, but $250 less!

I think the shutterfly albums are perfect for parent gifts, especially considering the cost difference between them and a professional album. I have ordered several of their albums and have always been happy with the print quality.

We're doing our photo books through Blurb.com. They have really professional-looking layouts, you can put your photos on the dust jacket, they come in a large coffee-table-book size, and they are cheaper - you can have up to 40 pages for the price of a 20-page book at most other places.

However, we haven't gotten our first book yet, so I will post when it comes and let you know how it looks. :thumbsup2

i would be very interested in seeing your final product...

Let me know too how it turns out. They look the same, if not nicer than the shutterfly books!

i did the flush mount album for myself, and while i LOVE IT, would never spend that much on pics for my parents! i just fiished making two shutterfly books of our wedding for my inlaws for Christmas!

I've been doing photo books for years -- way before Shutterfly offered them. Every vendor except for one has done a wonderful job (I won't bother to mention the vendor whose product was horrible since they have long since gone out of business). I really like Shutterfly's photo book product, and adore their photo greeting card line, too.

I most recently made soft-cover photo books via Apple. They did a lovely job with their books, so if you have an Apple computer, consider adding them to your potential photo book list.

Another vote for the Shutterfly books. The hardbound ones are great; they look like real little books! Be sure to do a google search or something for a coupon code; you can find everything from x% off to free shipping, and everything little bit helps, right??

My DF made me a photo book using Blurb's BookSmart program. It was a collection of photos he put together of our travels as an anniversary gift. It came out gorgeous, absolutely stunning. The quality was very professional. We're planning on using this for wedding photos, too. I highly recommend it.

I have also done a Shutterfly photo book, and was very pleased with the way it turned out. I just checked out the Blurb.com website, and it appears as though this one would cost less. I would also be interested in knowing how the finished product compares with Shutterfly.

Just as an alternative thought . .

When I brought up the idea of parent albums to my Mother (I'm terrible at surprises :lmao:), she said that she'd much rather blown up wedding pictures of us for her to frame and put around the house. She said she'd rather display our professional pictures than to have an album in a drawer.

Saves us money anyway!

I gave my parents a little no reason gift.

It was of a vacations we took as a family before i moved out of state.

I used shutterfly.com i did a small one just to try it out. I was impressed and had fun with it. They loved it.

I'm going to do a big one as my guest book. With pictures of us together us a couple and baby pictures and growing up all through out.

Here is my 8x8 book from Shutterfly. I thought they came out great. I think this would be perfect for parents.
I made an 8x8 but you can get a 12x12

They are paper, not cardboard. Its good quality paper but not real thick. I got the book free through a wedding flyer I recieved but I ended up puting 25 extra pages in so it cost me $25. So a standard 20 page book I think is $20 for the 8x8. I think it will last for years to come, just don't let a little one get a hold of it.

Any ideas/experiences with where to get digital flush-mounted albums?

They are the ones like the shutterfly/myPublisher books, but the pages are the hard flush-mount type, and you can still have a full page image (instead of mats).
