Shula's Steak House Questions

I'm thinking of trying this place for Christmas Eve. DH loves steak and it seems like this place get consistently good reviews compared to Yachtsman's. But two questions concern me.

First, the place has no children's menu, so that strongly suggests this is not a place that welcomes young children. DS will be 28 months by that point, and he is accustomed to eating out, but he still acts like a toddler. Would we be out of place bringing him? If so, then this is a no go for us.

Second, I looked at the menu and did not see rib eye offered. DH LOVES rib eye, and I generally order that as well. Filet Mignon, in our experience, is just a bit more tender but less flavorful. What is a good alternative for us? And what is the "Cowboy" cut?

I was under the impression that Shula's does not allow children & they offer complimentary child care in the hotel's kids center. This is why we have never been to Shula's.

Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!!!!!

It has been a couple of years since I have been there, but I'll tell you what I remember! I always order a ribeye, and I got the Cowboy cut when we were there... I seem to think the waitress said that it was a bone-in ribeye...anyway it was VERY large and very good. My son was 9 at the time and we took him to the childcare on the lower level of the dophin, because there was nothing on the menu that he would eat. However, even though I had the impression that it was not a child friendly place, a LARGE group (15 people?) came in just as we were leaving, and they had several (noisy) children of all ages and they were seated with no problem. I am sure this is not the norm, but I do think they will accommodate you if they can. Good Luck!

Children aren't banned BUT there isn't a children's menu, there is a plate (sharing) charge, AFAIK they don't have any high chairs and they let you use the kids club for free.

They do everything to discourage kids but they leave the decision up to the parents.

You might call them. According to the Dolphin's website, Camp Dolphin (the child care) is only for children ages 4-12. Parents get 2 hours free by showing their receipt after dining at Shula or bluezoo. So if he's only 28 mos. you'll probably have to make other arrangements. :sad2:

We ate there a few weeks ago....there were 2 young children there at 2 different tables, both were in strollers pushed up to the table...both were fussy...the meal takes a while...I felt sorry for the mom who kept getting up to try to quiet her child.....

Shula's is a very high class steak house.....the best ay WDW. If you have a question about children, why not call them?
