It’s a grain/porridge-like dish, usually with the same consistency as cream of wheat maybe? It’s grittier than risotto or oatmeal, with finer grains. It’s kind of neutral in terms of flavour, which is why it usually has something on top or mixed in, like butter, cheese or shrimp. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grits

I’m a shrimp and grits junkie, and the best I’ve had at WDW was at Boatwrights at POR.

Narcoossee's was delicious. It's worth asking if they could increase size and have as an entree.

Grits are like a creamy polenta.
Both grits and polenta are made from ground cornmeal. There may be differences in the fineness or coarseness of the grind, but pretty much the same product. In fact, some distributors may have both names on their packaging. As noted, the preparation of grits may be creamier than some polenta preparations, but I’ve had plenty of polenta that was equally creamy, particularly when served with Italian Sunday gravy (tomato sauce).
