Shpping for plus sizes!

We're coming from the UK for 13 nights at the AKL (How excited are we???!!!)

I would like to incorporate some shopping during our stay (this will be limited as this is not our 5 yr old twins favourite pastime!). I would like particularly to look at Ladies Plus sizes and as I don't recognise the American Brand names, I was wondering if anyone could suggest some makes and which Malls would be best to find them. I like bright, funky, sparkly type stuff!

Two store chains which can be found in most local malls are The Avenue and Lane Bryant. Also Liz Claiborne Woman can be found in large department stores like Macy's and Filene's. I'm not sure where these stores might be located in Florida, at the mall I'm sure, maybe someone else can help with directions. Also, maybe someone familiar with the Florida area can give you some local store names.

There are two Liz Claibrone outlests in Orlando that carry plus sizes so you will be sure to want to check those out.

I'm presuming you're planning on hitting the outlets? The good news is that except for stores that are clearly marketing to teens, most US store chains carry some plus-sized ranges. It's hard to give you brands, because they tend to be the same brands as the smaller sized things; just sized larger.

If you want bright colors but classic styling, the Liz Claiborne outlet is a good bet. The larger sized range is labeled "Elisabeth." Old Navy stores have plus-sized things as well, their emphasis is on styles that would be liked by teens and young 20's (low-slung trousers, tight-cut blouses, etc.) Target and WalMart also have a lot of bright basics in plus sizes: t-shirts, hoodie sweatshirts, etc. Dress Barn Woman and Casual Corner Woman have good professional clothing. If you like literal sparkles, you can find a lot of that at WestBound Woman (The cut on their stuff is a bit matronly, but they have a lot of things with sequins, beads and embroidery. The colors there tend to be more pastel; you won't find a lot of black.)

The funkiest store you're likely to find is probably Torrid, they have a shop in the Florida Mall (which is not an outlet mall, it is a mainstream mall.) Torrid is aimed squarely at the teen/college crowd; I don't find their clothing suitable for wearing to work. A really nice website I like is Nicheonline.com; they specialize in natural-fiber clothing, which I like for our hot summers, especially. They can be pricey, but they have great sales.

(I'm giving you websites because if you will be here for a longish visit, you might like to order things shipped to your resort address. Just be careful that you have checked the measurements carefully.)

Some great plus size brands to look for at department stores are:

Jones NY, Style & Co, INC Internations Concepts, Liz Claiborne Woman, Elizabeth (also by Liz Claiborne), Crazy Horse (another Liz Claiborne)


Most of these brands are carried at both Dillards and Burdines-Macy's (department stores) there are at least two Dillards and one Burdines in Orlando.

Old Navy recently introduced Women's Plus Sizes to their lines. You can look online www.oldnavy.com for store information as not all stores are carrying the plus sizes.

believe it or not walmart, i went in for something and ended up buying some clothes, they offer so much in plus sizes, my walmart does not have near the stuff they do, i meant to make it to the mall, but i did not have time, next trip

If you like funky clothes try Torrid! I LOVE them!! but I tend to be a little funkier than most.
