Shows on Cruise Ships

Is it just me or does it seem like the Disney shows on the ships have been the same year after year. I think it’s time to do some new shows. Maybe Encanto!

They do have new shows from time to time - Tangled, Frozen and BATB are newer. Twice Charmed has been redone. Obviously, both Seas the Adventure and Little Mermaid are new. What I would call the compilation shows, like Golden Mickey’s and Dreams get updates. I think it is probably incredibly expensive to stage a brand new Broadway style show, especially one that will work on a moving ship.

They once had the people responsible for bringing new shows to the ships at a Castaway Cay Club reception. It literally takes years from concept to production to bring a new show to the ship. It was fascinating to see how they have to consider the limited size of stage and backstage, the movement of the ship, etc. But, yes, it does happen.
