Hi,

I am interested in finding out what shows are interpreted for the deaf and when they are offered. Can anyone help??

Thanks in advance,

Linda

Talking hands (Lisa) is our resident expert on that subject. If she's not around in a short time, I'll find the info for you. I know that you can find out at Guest Services at the parks, but she has much more complete info, including contact info so you can find outr ahead of time.

I am hearing, but Sign and love watching the interpreters work. This is a solo trip for me and would love to spend some time checking out the interpreted shows.

Shows are interpreted at each of the parks on a rotating basis.
Magic Kingdom - Mon and Thurs
EPCOT - Tues and Fri
MGM - Sun and Wed
AK - Sat

You can get a schedulefor the week from Guest Services as you enter a park.

At Magic Kingdom the following are interpreted: Jungle Cruise, Diamond Horseshoe, Riverboat, Share a Dream Come True Parade, Sword in Stone (only Mon) and Cinderella's Surprise Celebration. The Riverboat is only interpreted if a deaf guest is present.

At EPCOT the following are interpreted: Lock Out Chamber at Living Seas, Listen to the Land at the Land, HOuse of Innovations, Street Players in both England and France (France only on Tues), Tapestry of Dreams Parade

At MGM: Beauty and the Beast, WWTBAM, Indiana Jones, Backlot Tour, Hunchback, Parade and Animation Tour (BB, Indy and HB are always done others depend on guests)

AK: Festival of the Lion King, Pocahontas, Tarzan, Flights of Wonder, Indoor talk at Rafiki's Planet Watch, and the Jammin' Jungel Parade

The interpreters are very friendly and do not mind having hearing guests watch. In fact I think they really enjoy it. Most interpreters do if they are in a situation that allows it. I know I don't mind myself when I interpret meetings or at church.

If you want a schedule before you go contact Mark Jones

This is just what I needed and will definitely contact Mark Jones. I was a Deaf Education minor in college and use my sign a great deal as a CM in the Disney Store. Watching interpreters helps with receptive language practice.

Lisa, I was wondering are WDW able to get BSL signers??, now having my husband as well as my son both deaf when we go in May I would like to have a break from interpreting myself.

Jules

I really don't know if they can or not. Ask Mark Jones Email me privately and I can give another source but I am not at liberty to say it publicly.
