I have a few people in my group who are not 100% coming on our upcoming disney trip.

I made ADR's including them. If I show up to ADR's with too little people in reservation OR with 1 or 2 more people will they charge me the fees? Or will they give me a hard time?

Recommendations? Thanks!!

No, it's been my experience that as long as someone shows up for the reservation they don't charge you.

As long as at least one person shows up for the reservation you will not be charged the penalty for the missing people.

It's always easier to show up with fewer people than with extra people not included in your reservation.

If you show up with extra people, the CMs will do there best to accommodate you, but there's always the possibility that they will not be seated. If the restaurant is at capacity the fire code will not allow any extra diners to be seated. We were also at a DW restaurant that was running far behind schedule that would not seat any walk ups, late comers or extra guests.

Have you ever done this with a lot of people not showing up (i.e., going from 6 people to 2 people)? I imagine this could happen, but considering a 6 person table is a lot bigger than 2 person table I wonder if there would be any problems... thoughts?

We've done this with an ADR for 5 that only 2 showed up for at Sci-fi. Our infant son got sick so DH and I stayed at hotel to take care of him while DH's mom and sister went on to eat lunch. They said it was no issue at all.

Yeah, we had a reservation for 1900 park fare dinner two trips ago for 7 people because my DBF's sister and her family were with us and his brother and gf were supposed to come also. It turned out that his brother and gf didn't come on the trip at all and his sister and family got sick and couldn't make it so only me and DBF went. We tried to change the ADR to just 2 earlier on and there was no availability so we just went the 2 of us and told the CM the situation. When we apologized they said there was no reason to apologize and didn't give us any issue.

When you make an ADR, they don't slate you a table, from what I understand which is why you still have to wait sometimes. So it really doesn't make a difference to them how many show up.

Did you try to change it by phone? The website is a hassle but I've never had a problem by phone.

I was doing just that when the CM remarked that they would appreciate it if people weren't going to come that they call. They have fire code limits on the reservations.

No I didn't. But wouldn't they have to do the same thing? Search for an available reservation for fewer people and cancel the old one and rebook the new one.

I think that was true with the older reservation system but now they have a "modify" button. :)

One friend of ours might or might not go with us to the parks a few times, so it's good to know that making a reservation for 5 but possibly showing up with only 4 isn't really a big deal.

This is good to hear. We are going with a group of 7 and intend to have several meals together, but realistically I can't imagine everyone will always make it.

I would imagine it doesn't hurt the restaurant at all since there are always people stopping in asking for availability on the fly without an ADR.

When I tried the "modify" button it wouldn't let me change the number of guests, only which of the people on my friends and family list were going.
