Shower shoes?

First…I am NOT a germaphobe, by any stretch of the imagination. My question is in regards to safety.

I will be sailing, on the Magic, in late December. After FIVE cruises, this will be the first non-concierge and using a HA room. That in its self is causing me stress!!

We only got a HA room because of having to use a Scooter to access other areas on the ship. Walking long distances is an issue. Everyone is able to walk into the shower, however, from the pictures I saw, it appears that the shower/bathroom floor is all tile? If we got shower shoes, would it be safer trying to access the shower? I was just thinking about how wet the shower will make the floor. Hope this isn’t too confusing. I’m just curious.

I have not stayed in an HA but have been in one when we traveled with my cousins 10 years ago and they had an HA cabin. The shower area is curtained and that helps the flow of water. Also, there is a set of drains that surrounds the shower area, so the water does have a place to go.

Reports from those rooms indicate that the whole bathroom floor does get wet each time you shower.

Thank you, that’s what I was afraid of ! Guess we’ll need to order extra towels! I absolutely HATE the thought of someone else cleaning up the mess we created in the shower!

We had a HA room on our first cruise - not because we needed it, but it was just what we ended up with as we were GTY. The curtain helped and while the floor did get wet, I don't recall the floor ever being REALLY wet. On our most recent cruise, my parents had a HA room for my dad and they never complained about the floor being too wet.

We just sailed in an HA room and never had water problems on the floor. Actually, we semi-flooded the bathroom in our non-HA room on the first leg because my daughter didn't realize that the showerhead was aimed at the space between the wall and the curtain. We never had any trouble in the HA. There are floor drains all around the shower pan and those, combined with the bathmat, ensured we had no trouble at all.

Just my experience but some shower shoes for me are slipperier than bare feet. I would simply request more towels or if you’re gonna be up on pool deck anyways just bring your used towel down to your room and use that for the floor ( less waste) . If you’re worried about slipping in the shower I recommend buying these things and bringing them with. They don’t take up a lot of room and they are light. I got these for my kids when they were little because I’ve personally find shower mats disgusting. I turned one over so you can see how it suctions to the floor. 4 or 5 should do. They usually comes in packs of 8 by us.

Due to DW's walking issue we have had an HA cabin for over 11 years and have never had any issues with a slippery floor no matter which ship, in the shower or the bathroom floor. As mentioned there is a flat drain all around the shower and the curtain hangs just to the inside of the drain. As with any shower you could spray water all over if you don't adjust the hand held shower properly.
