One of the showers is having water pressure problems. Hoping it might be as simple as the shower head being clogged and thought I'd replace it before calling a plumber.

Looked at the hardware store and there are many different types and I seem to remember that someone was talking about a few that are really nice to have.

Any recommendations??

If you don't really want to replace it, have you tried soaking it in white vinegar for a bit? That will often loosen the "gook" and allow it to flow well again :)

Both of ours are Shower Massage brand, one is just the head, the other can also be used as a handheld.

I guess if I had to replace one of the ones I have now, I'd just get another Shower Massage. They seem to last for many years, and I like the choice of spray types. The hand held ones make cleaning teh shower really easy as well :)

If this is one you use regularly and you want a treat I recommend the Conair Tropical Rainforest Shower. I love this thing. DH got it as a gift at Home Depot - probably paid $50??? It is heaven in the morning!

we rent so the first thing that went under the sink when we moved in was the showerhead. this made a HUGE difference in shower enjoyment, ya know what I mean?! we got ours at the bed bath and beyond store by us, but i'm sure any home store has them. it was around 50 bucks and worth every penny. I'm not sure of the brand but it has a bunch of "water massage" settings and has a handle with a longer hose that can reach down to the tub, which is useful for dog baths (if you have a dog) or if you need to hose down a short, dirty, little boy :) . As I said - very useful.

If the pressure problem isn't due to the shower head, it might be that you need a filter replaced. I'm not big on plumbing, but it might be something you could try yourself. maybe someone on these boards could actually walk you through it. disers here are pretty resourceful.

We have just a simple, single spray, water saver spray head. Probably cost under $5, works great.

I also have a shower massage. We only use the one regular spray but, it's nice. We've had it for a number of years. However, I also have a Moen shower head that my Dad gave me years ago when I rented and, I will ALWAYS keep that with me wherever I go, as a backup. ;)

I second Ducklite. Put some vinegar in a plastic lunch bag and tie it over the showerhead over night. Use some string or a rubberband to hold it on. Make sure the openings in the shower head are submerged in the vinegar.

Thanks everyone, I'm thinking this is a good excuse to get one of the massage type ones so not really wanting to replace it with just the standard one.

We recently replaced our massage shower head with a "Down Under Wonder" from QVC - I think they're about $20. You can't believe how terrific that shower head is when it comes to rinsing your hair, etc. (And, the good thing about QVC is you can return it if you don't like it.)

For those who don't like the "low flow" shower heads, we have a WaterPik shower head that included directions to remove the regulator for cleaning purposes (or to turn it into a "high flow" device).
