I had never considered staying at SSR as it just seemed so large and unappealing to me. However, this morning I came across a deal on Disney's website making SSR just slightly more money than a moderate!

I have gone through 11 pages on this forum looking for info but can't find anything.

I've stayed there several times. At first I wasn't too thrilled. But, after that first stay, I found that I really liked it there. Yes, it's huge, and spread out. But, there are multiple bus stops throughout the resort. It does take a bit of time to make the loop before heading to the parks. But...it's a beautiful resort.

Since SSR is a DVC only resort, you might find more threads on the DVC boards. There is an SSR love thread over there.

I think SSR is fantastic for spending time at the resort. If you're a go go parks family, then you may get frustrated by the size of the resort.

We've stayed there a few times and are staying there again in December. Overall I really like the resort and I don't find the size of it to be an issue because everything I need is close by. We usually stay in the Paddock and there is a great pool right there with food/mug refills and the main building is just a walk across the bridge. The bus stop is right there too. The Paddock is the 3rd stop so the ride to the parks is not so bad but sometimes the buses are full when they get there. It's also easy to get to other resorts for meals because you can take the bus to Disney Springs and transfer. Love the rooms and having a Washer/Dryer is awesome.

My main complaint about the resort is it doesn't seem like buses run as frequently as other resorts and it is often standing room only.

I have stayed at SSR only one time. Sorry, but I am not a fan. The resort is large and looks more like a condo complex. Just not to my liking. Bus rides to theme parks are long. The only positive, is the proximity to Disney Springs and all of those restaurants/entertainment options.

We just stayed here a few weeks ago. I loved that they emailed me in advance to ask my location preferences. We requested and got Congress Park with a view of Disney Springs and steps from the quiet pool. My kids loved this pool! It was never crowded and we could find a shady spot any time of day. We were a super short walk from DS and we loved that!!

The buses were definitely difficult and sometimes full by the time they got to Congress Park. We did like Artist Point for a quick lunch and the portions were huge! I would definitely stay here again.

We really liked it! For us, the close proximity to DS was perfect. We stayed in the Congress Park section (requested it) and the quiet pool there was great. Used busses a few times and had no issues at all. Would definitely stay there again.

Just a quick correction...you mean Artists Palette, not Artist Point. Artist Point is at WL.

As far as the buses go, yes, they can get full if you use them at busy times of day. If you are at one of the first two stops, it's usually not an issue. If you board at the Springs stop, yes, it can be a full bus, but that's the last stop. If I was in the Springs area, I would be very tempted to make the 5 min walk over to the Grandstand area and get the bus there. Yes, it's backtracking but if you really need a seat, then it might be a better option.
I have seen completely full buses at every single resort. SSR buses are no better, no worse than other resort buses. It's the luck of the draw.

Our first on property stay was an SSR 1 bed in 2014 for 9 nights and we loved it. We are snobs when it comes to things like hotels, show tickets, and paper towels. But we went into it with no expectations and frankly, you have to seriously account for the convenience of DR stays vs the posh-ness of off property possibilities for the same or less $$.

We asked the front desk to give us a room where they would want to stay if they were taking their families and the ladies agreed on the Paddock (I think) it was the first stop to get dropped off and we walked straight across the lake to get to the main bus stop which heads right out and never had a long wait or got left out (even with a giant double stroller). We had a view of the pool where there is a kiddie area as well as a cafe literally right out of our door. The layout of the room was a bit odd as are the old dvc villas with that one kitty corner bathroom and the place could use some freshening up inside but it was comfortable and easy and we didn't want to leave.

The convenience to Disney Springs would take us back there in coming years when our kids are teens. We ate at all the food options and found them totally adequate. Artists was no less than Gasparillas at GF. The restaurant was packed at night so make a reservation the day before on the app or that morning. It was good. Hearty kind of a Stanfords type of place.

Overall, it was good enough to get us to tour the DVC sales center which is on property and sadly, we didn't buy VGF on that visit because we didn't realize it was closing sales with no wait list a couple months later. But it did lead us into the research and eventually the purchase of a DVC contract that we are now using to the max. Since that stay, we rented VGF twice, Aulani and have booked directly the new Poly villas, as well as used our own contract for a gift trip to Aulani, a xmas trip to Aulani (we're west coast), a 9 day stay at the VGC, and spring break in Poly and BCV. SOOOOOO, that tells you how much that stay at SSR has changed our lives. It was a great foot into the door and we had a fabulous, relaxing stay there.

We stayed at SSR this past December because we got a discount on the room. The grounds were pretty and the 1 bedroom suite was a nice size but bland and generic as was the rest of the resort. The food selection wasn't bad but was also generic. I don't buy into the whole Disney magic thing but it was disappointing after staying at WL the last time.
