I booked a 2-bedroom standard view BWV through CRO for next January (I know - a long way off!). We have stayed here several times before, but last time had a BW view, and now I'm terrified that I'm going to regret this decision.

What can I reasonably expect - the driveway and parking lot? Or is there a possibility of even the slightest "acceptable" view? would love to see some pics of 2-bedroom standard views!

A standard view through CRO will actually be a pool/garden view. Standard and BW views, as defined by DVC, are only booked with points. So you will likely be facing one of the pools or the canal.
Here is a view from a pool/garden 2 bedroom we had once.

Here's a good thread:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2996965

It does include an overall map showing the categories.

Personally, I enjoy the driveway view. There is a large lawn in between BWV and the driveway (unless you are next to the elevators because of all the bell service carts...)

In July I had a tree infront of my balcony. I could still see through it, but it was filtered. I was happy for the shade and better privacy, though.

And remember, you can still wander around your beautiful resort;)

The view is going to be what you make of it. At BLT, somè people loooove MK view, because they see the castle when they look ahead. Others hate MK view because they only look down and see the parking lot and can't get over that :confused3

Also, I'm suprised there was a standard view was available through CRO. I thought pool/water view was the only thing DVC allocated to CRO?

Oh...I didn't know this! When I phoned to make the reservation, I confirmed with the guy that it was standard view and he said yes. Mind you, he was a little distracted with the computer - it was acting up. Imagine that!!

So there are two definitions of standard view - DVC standard view; and CRO standard view.

Thank you for the link - that was very helpful! And if you read the first reply, it seems there are two definitions of standard view!

This is likely a silly question about ground floor units - I've seen people post about how (for example) its so easy to leave your room and get to the path to the Studios. Can you exit and lock your room via the patio doors? I would have thought you'd have to lock from the inside... Just wondering because part of me thinks a ground floor unit would be wonderful for our 2-year old DGD to let her run and play a little.

You cannot lock the patio doors from the outside. There are shrubs around the ground floor villa patios. So you can't walk outside the patio from the patio.

I've noticed a few people cut through the shrubs, but I would not recommend it. The hallway has outside entrances near the elevator, at the bend, and at the end. You then can walk to DHS, or the bus stop, or the boats, or EPCOT without taking any stairs or elevator, if you are on the ground floor.
(But the lobby is on the 2nd floor)

most of the exit doors are FAR away from the elevators and in much better locations.

yes there are two standard views - has been for a few years. DVC standard views are only for DVC or RCI. while the CRO standard view is water/garden.

if you get a DVC standard view then complain - these are along the drive way.
