TLC channel (28 in the NYC area) has a new show about a cruise ship dry dock called "Drydock...A Ship Reborn"...it is about improvements on the Soverign of the Seas and it is very interesting....it started at 8:00 pm EST and another episode is on right now (9:00 pm EST).

Check it out!!!

I hope some of those who have second quessed the DCL Captains were watching the part where the Captain made the decision not to go to their private island beacuse of the wind and the hotel director said something to the extent of "you'd never know how it is out there because it looks so beautiful.

Very interesting program.

We have only sailed DCL, but may go on a RC cruise ship depending on whether DCL builds a third ship and adds new itineraries so I am going to check it out. It is on again at 12:00 AM eastern time. Thanks for the post.

I just watched both episodes. It was quite interesting. It is on next Sunday to. Next week there are three of them. They start at 7:00 central time. I set TIVO in case I forget about it I don’t miss it. I can’t wait to see hoe the finished product looks. There dry dock is in Freeport.

I found it so interesting! As I began to watch I wondered how they were going to fit 23 days of rehab into one show, THEN I realized that its a series of sorts. I don't know how many episodes there will be but I will definitely try and rememebr to watch next Sunday. It's funny, we were on the May 15th Wonder and that ship, The Sovereign of the Seas was docked right next to us. It departed just before us, so there we were following it out to see and then it showed up again right next to us in Nassau the next day. I knew one place they weren't going to be though ....Castaway Cay!

We plan to cruise again October 15, 2006 right after the Wonder's dry dock, I wonder what types of things they'll be doing on the ship??? Not a total rehab I'm sure!

We Watched Also .... They have To Tender into the Island...

We also watched it. Could anyone believe all the fires? :earseek: I was also surprised at all the lights that had not worked for several years. They were also adding balcony rooms. Very interesting show. I would love it if TLC did one on the Magic. Do you think if we all e-mail TLC they would?

For those following along with the Sovereign of the Seas drydock the final 3 episodes are airing tonight on The Travel Channel. On the east coast they start at 8:00PM

We know people who went on the ship after Drydock , they still would not go again...

But it is fun to watch...

I was talking to a friend today who said the first cruise after drydock didn't go well. He said it took awhile before they got out all the "bugs". He didn't go into detail. Do you have any insight.

Thanks for the reminder, Buddy Bear. We watched the first two episodes last week, and thought it was pretty interesting. I'm glad they'll finish it up tonight (even if it is three more episodes). That way I won't forget and miss the end.

You're welcome. For anyone who has missed any of these episodes all 5 are suppose to air next Sunday (19th) from 2:00 - 8:00PM on the east coast.

Missy said after watching the first two shows, "we have to make sure we don't go on any cruise ship after a major renovation". :rotfl2:

Just finished watching the three episodes tonight, I found it quite interesting to say the least. A great deal of hard work was put forward, that's for sure!!!

I sailed on the SOS in 2001. I am sure glad they updated that tired looking ship. I saw the show. The improvements look to be great. Still can't compare to DCL but a much needed rehab.

I found it amazing they could add verandahs and the ship not look like it had scaffolding hanging off the sides. Clearly, I am not an architect!

I found it amazing that they did all of that in such a short amount of time. It was a great show.

We watched the first episode last night- TIVO'd the rest. It's interesting to see the comments about not taking a cruise when the ship comes right out of drydock. I was thinking I wouldn't want to be on that last one before it goes in. I'm curious to see the improvements but as DH said, it can't be enough to make us switch from DCL.
