Shovel your Sidewalk!

I'm just venting today. We've had a lot of snow here in NE Ohio and our house is VERY close to the elementary school. I'm just very annoyed by the number of my neighbors who haven't shoveled their sidewalks. It was 40 degrees yesterday, you think they could have shoveled for 5 mins. And for the record it's not my elderly neighbors either, it's the younger ones. This just irritates me! Don't be lazy!

We get fined by the town if our sidewalks aren't shoveled 24 hours after the snow stops. Tends to keep them cleaned off.

I actually wind up shovelling the street in front of my house, though.
The last thing I need is the mailman to slip and fall.

With 300 feet of sidewalk (thanks to being on a corner lot), I'm glad that we have a snowblower. And I'm really glad that DW Sue knows how to use it.

We usually end up clearing our sidewalks as well as the neighbors on both sides of us. We end up clearing over 600 feet of sidewalk so that the kids can safely walk to their bus stop. As far as I know, there are no regulations in our city regarding keeping sidewalks clear. I know that some communities have little snowplows that are specially made to clear the sidewalks. In our part of the country, that's probably not a bad idea.

Hey Pembo. Why don't you send your boys out to shovel the neighbors' sidewalks? Maybe that would be a good way to burn up some of that excess energy that they both seem to possess.

We shovel all of the sidewalk from the front of our house to the corner where DS8 gets on the bus. That way we are assured that he won't be trapsing through it. I think if we didn't, the neighbors probably would but with the snow blower, it's a breeze.

I am with you Pembo! It kills me how some people are just too darned lazy. And the three people on my block who hadn't shoveled are all young families! You'd think they'd know better. There are plenty of seniors on our block too and either they shovel or get someone to do it!

This is a big pet peeve with me!
