Should we try Spirit Air instead of jetBlue?

In August, we will be traveling again to the World :goodvibes

I priced the flights - Spirit is MUCH cheaper than jetBlue. I am very reluctant to try a different airline - we have used jetBlue exclusively for years, and have been very happy with the customer service and flight experience. Although we will not have our older kids for the Aug. trip, we will have
DS (2). We have grown accustomed to the direcTV at each seat, and the snacks ;)

If we took Spirit air, we would fly out of Atlantic City (an hour away) instead of Newark (about 20 minutes away).

Is it worth the significant price savings to fly on Spirit? Anyone have any experience with Spirit that they could share, especially how it compares to jetBlue

Thank you!

If you're looking for the best price, fly Spirit. If you are looking for anything else, don't.

You also have to figure in the cost of what checked bags will cost on Spirit. I'm not sure what the cost is, but JetBlue gives you 1 checked bag for free.

Also, will there be any additional transportation costs for you to get to ACY versus EWR.

I had a couple of challenging flights with Spirit, and as a result, they are VERY low on my list of airlines I'll consider. (never say never ;) ).

ETA that if you pre-purchase your checked bags online, the first bag is $19, and the second bag is $25 each way. If you wait, and pay for your bags at the airport, they are $25 each.

We love JetBlue, and would always choose them over Spirit.
