DD has been wanting to go to Rainforest Cafe in AK. Will you all share your reviews and pics with me? Thanks

My DD loves this place, we will be going again this June that is her pick.

Kids tend to love it -- it is a fun place with lots for them to look at. We have never tried the one at Animal Kingdom (or Downtown Disney) as we have several in Chicago and have eaten at one of them once and also the one in Las Vegas at the MGM. We were not impressed--a little pricey and food only so-so. However, like I said kids tend to love it. Hopefully someone who has eaten at the one in Disney can give you a better answer.

My family and I always go to the Rainforest Cafe at Downtown Disney Marketplace and even though it's not the one at the Animal Kingdom, it's still the same food and atmosphere. So I would recommend going there because it's a very good resraurant.

Is there any difference between the one at Downtown Disney and Animal Kingdom? I heard the one at AK is a little easier to get in too. Does the AK one have a large giftshop as well?

We went to the one at Animal Kingdom. We went at about 12:30 (june) and we were actually seated right away & my friends were expected to wait along time since we were told they didn't accept reservations. The food though was awesome, I had the chicken fried chicken & it was really really good. I highly recommend that dish if you go (if you're a fan of chicken) That dish was insanely drool worthy :thumbsup2

One difference I know is the one at Downtown Disney does not accept ADR's, however you can still make reservation by calling that location directly. So that means the location at the Animal Kingdom does accept ADR's which can be made by a Cast Member from the 407-WDW-DINE number or at the Lobby Concierge desks at the Resorts. Usually my family and I eat arrive to eat at 4:30 PM when going to the one at Downtown Disney to avoid the long lines and are always seated right away. As for the gift stores I remember them being the same size.

Rainforest Cafe is one of those places I feel is unique due to atmosphere, not food. There is one here where we live, and we have eaten there a couple of times. The food is nothing to write home about, honestly, but the atmosphere is very unique and for that alone I believe it is worth at least one visit.

We go to the one at the AK. The food is good, the atmosphere is fun, the service can be so-so but we like it. The plant sandwich is excellent, I've had that several times, and also the chimi-cha cha's are very good.

CR Resort Fan 4,

thanks so much for the heads-up about calling Rainforest DTD direct for a reservation. When I called to make my ADR's and tried there, Disney said they didn't take them....but of course didn't tell me to call directly!

Thanks again...I called today and you can make them 6 months in advance. 1-407-827-8500

And....this will be our first time visiting it Downtown. We've been twice at AK, t he kids love it and we enjoy it also. I think the food is fine, really. However, my kids got pizza last time and we tried to dissuade them. I don't think they enjoyed it too much. We got huge salads and they were good. However...it was FREEZING in there and it made my experience hardly tolerable. Take a jacket if you are able.

The atmosphere is fun. I find the tables a little too close together for my taste but worth the trip. The food's not bad either. DH and I were adventurous and split an appetizer platter then tried to eat the Volcano by ourselves. Needless to say, we didn't succeed but we had a blast trying.

I haven't been, but like PP have been to one locally and agree that the atmosphere is fun but the food is so-so.

Also, we took my daughter when she was around 3 1/2 and she was scared to death of the place. She totally freaked out when the "animals" moved and refused to go back there until she was older. She wasn't one of those kids that's scared of a lot of things, either, so we were totally caught by surprise.

We loved the atmosphere (10 of 10 stars), but thought the food was just OK. It was the same quality food you get at any chain restaurant, like Chili's, Applebees, Bennigans, etc. Nothing special...

I LOVE their quesadillas and my sister speaks very highly of the Mojo Bones. Also, order Volcano for dessert. My sister and I do just to hear them yell "volcanooooooooo" through the restaraunt. It has become a bit of a tradition with us. In Disney we've only been to the one in AK and got in there rather quickly during the summer on both occassions.

We were just down there in january. It was good food, but the couple behind us had a little boy ( not sure of age because we have none) but he was wasnt in a high chair. I am going to say around 6 years old

ever time the animals went off and the thunderstorm came through he was screaming his head off. He hated it. I felt so bad for the parents, The dad took the boy outside while the mom ate, then the mom got done eating she sat outside with the boy and the dad came and ate.

(it didnt bother us, because we couldnt really hear him over the thunderstorm)

It will depend on your child as for the noises.

My younger son has sensory issues and I could not bring him when he was very young because the thunder sounds would have set him off, but the last few trips we did go (last trip was his 7th b'day) and he loves it.

There is so much atmosphere with the animals and fish tanks, etc.

We have never had a problem with the service or the food as I've seen other people complain about.

We been several times to the one at AK and really enjoy. The atmosphere is pretty cool and the food is pretty good plus it is a nice cool break when it is hot outside..

Haven't been to the one in AK since 2000 but were at DTD just a week ago. I don't know what the fascination is with this place because the wait is long if you don't do their call ahead seating (their number is in my cell) but we're definitely hooked. The food is good and it's entertaining.

We eat at Rainforest Cafe in DTD every trip. Its not because the food is great or anything its just tradition and my kids love the atmosphere. Trust me the food is not worth the money they charge you but it is still a good time. Plus it is the only restaurant at Disney that I have been able to find real honest to goodness sweet tea.
