We've never tried Boma but have read a number of great reviews....Can anyone give me an idea of the atmosphere and I'm pretty much a meat and potatoes guy and the kids are also pretty finicky....Would this be a bad choice for us....Thanks in advance:teeth:

Hello! DH and I just got back and tried Boma for the first time. We were very hesistant but have to say that this ended up being one of our favorite meals. There is lots of stuff to try and I suggest taking small samples of each. There is meat such as Prime Rib, Beef, Chicken, and a fish (we had salmon) that are just cooked in African spices and taste increddible. The side dishes may be a bit harder and DH and I did not try everything. There was a rice dish, some small round breaded balls that tasted like hush puppies (yummy), a white mush with a tomato sauce sort of like salsa - I didn't really care for it. DH did fine some fried potatoes that looked good. There was lots of salads but we didn't try any only because we wanted to try the meats and stuff. The soups were incredible! There were 5 different soups and we tried them all. Our favorite was a Chicken and pepper soup.

There is a kid station where you can get chicken fingers, mac and cheese, and fries.

The dessert station is worth the price of the meal. Be adventurous and go for it! Try one of the African Wines as well!

If your family is meat and potatoes I would skip Boma. Yes they have meat but with very different spices on it. DH is a pretty plain eater, I will give something different a try but did not like anything I tried there. Most people on these boards rave about it but we were disappointed and will not return.

I'm a "meat and potatoes" guy myself, but really enjoyed the food selection at Boma. We dined there with friends from Florida and maybe that was the reason we enjoyed it so much. The dessert selection is outstanding! I tried a little of several items. To be honest, I liked it better than Jiko at the AKL.

It was definitely the best buffet meal that we have had at WDW when compared to Cape May or 1900 Park Faire.

They have meat and potatoes, as other people have mentioned! You will not go hungry here! If you want to try the other dishes, they are right there with their signs up on top, and there is usually a chef/cook there to further explain if you have any questions. The desserts alone are to die for! I think you might enjoy Boma!

Honey, we are all picky eaters!!! I have two words for you ...

BOMA RULES!!!!!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :jumping1:

tiggersmom is so right....BOMA DOES RULE!!!::yes:: ::yes::

Dh is a meat & potatoes guy and he loved it, too. I've only been there once, but it's now a definite "must do" for all future visits.

I think that whether or not you will enjoy Boma really depends on whether you will A) enjoy trying some old favs (beef, chicken, etc) with new spices (they taste different) and B) your stomach will handle spices it is not used to. I liked the food at Boma very much. I liked the different spices. What I didn't like was how sick I felt afterward. Like all these new flavors were stirring up inside my tummy. While I liked the food at BOMA I don't think I'll go back. Every time I think about it, I remember the stomach ache afterward. And, for the record, I didn't get a stomach ache because I over ate, I really didn't eat that much for me.

We absolutely loooove Boma!! Can't beat it for value and variety - as previously stated, there are familiar dishes, and lots of unfamiliar ones you just might find you really like!! There was a dish called FuFu, which I think is mashed rutabaga, that is to die for. And don't get me started on the desserts!!:teeth:

Great....thanks to everyone for some good information.....kinda leaning in the direction of going at this point...we've been to WDW 5 times and would like to try some different things this time so we may just go for it......Thanks again:D

DW and DDs are very picky, but they love Boma. They can load up on meat and potatoes, and I try the more exotic dishes. Boma has become a must for our trips.

I have to second what Sue1013 said. We found some "regular" food, but did not care for the way it was flavored. It was our least favorite meal of the trip.

Just a note: If you have tree nut allergies, you may want to rethink Boma, or at least double check with the Chef before eating from the buffet. There were several items on the buffet that I would have tried before speaking to one of the chefs on duty. I happened to mention my allergy, and she quickly listed a bunch of things that I SHOULD NOT eat, since they contained nuts. (Unfortunately, this included most of the dessert menu!) Most of these items did not look like they contained tree nuts, since the nuts were ground. She was very nice at pointing out alternatives, and even offered to have them prepare some salmon for me without the almonds, and a special dessert. I thought this was above and beyond the call at a buffet. I didn't take her up on her offer, since there were enough items that I could eat without putting them through the extra work. I must admit that just having her offer to do it impressed me! :D

a favor and dine at Boma!!! You won't regret it. We eat there every time we visit WDW and it is still our favorite. You can eat as "safe" as you want or try some of their unusual but delicious African-influenced food.

ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!
