Should we try a Signature Restaurant

Hi All,

Well I thought I was done but now I am confused again.

I am thinking of cancelling Mama Melrose's (just do 2 CS on HS day instead)to have 2 TS credits to try a signature on our AK day. However, that night I wanted to go to Downtown Disney as well ...... sooooooo what signature restaurant would you pick? :confused3

It's me, my DH, my DD (8) and my dad who is a little picky (not into curries or too much spice).

I currently reserved for Wolfgang Puck Cafe but now I understand better that the menu is almost the same as the express - I was looking at the upstairs menu before thinking what great choices!

Thanks for all advice

Lisa

If you want to do a signature near AKL Jiko is closest and the food is not that exotic. Althought not a signature Boma is also in the AKL and very good, plus it's a buffet with things like prime rib and a kids buffet for those picky eaters.

Might I suggest you have your signature when you are at or near DHS? You have the Brown Derby, Yachtsman Steakhouse, and Flying Fish Café all very close by.

Oh I forgot about the Brown Derby - is it worth the 2TS credits? Maybe we will do that and then skip Mama Melroses.

We are at HS on a Fantasmic night in November so if we go to the Brown Derby would we still make it to the show?

Thanks

The brown derby has IMHO come back up to a really good restaurant, there was a period of time where it wasn't. I believe they are part of the fantasmic package where you eat then get a reserved seat for the show, I not 100% sure however, anyway if not eat there a little earlier and you will be sure to make the show.

I see one issue with your plan... HS was the WORST counter service of any parks... I struggle to find one good CS meal a day... let alone 2 ;)

I personally have never done brown derby but the menu looks good. It is open for lunch as well as dinner so you would be able to be done before the show definitely. That would not be the case with the other options.

WGP is one 1 ts credit not 2... so you could still do that as it's not a signature. The food is really good! Much better than the counter service... even though we love the cs too.

Brown Derby is about in the middle of the pack in my ranking of the signatures; I have dined at all of them many times. Brown Derby is the worst value on the dining plan because their entrees are not priced as high as the entrees at the other signatures. However, going by food quality alone, I rank Brown Derby above several of them.

You could always do the Fantasmic package at HBD and with those 2 credits and get priority seating then.

My favorite signature is Citricos.

However, BD would be convenient for you, so I'd go with that. I think BD is quite good and worth 2 credits. I enjoyed it there enough that I've booked their signature dinner during Food and Wine Festival.

Over the course of our 3 trips to WDW, some of our favorite dining experiences have been the signatures, Citricos being the best and Artist Point next. If on the reg DDP, it really isn't the best value, but it is worth it to us to get some more sophisticated entree choices and quieter environments.

Enjoy!
