Should we switch ressies?

We were booked at POR for 5/10-14 at $140/night, then I found a great deal at AKL for $174/night and upgraded. We've never stayed there before and were really excited about our stay. On 4/12, I had minor emergency surgery so we might be spending more time at the resort than usual, but I've been reading a lot about the noise from the construction at AKL interrupting rooms and the pool area and am worried that we won't be able to really relax and rest if I need to.

I was going to switch back to POR, but it's now up to $165/night. I'm thinking about using our DVC points instead. I think it would cost us between 68 & 84 points depending on availability (I don't have a points chart in front of me, but did last night). Should we bite the bullet and use our points over a weekend to get the relaxation that I would need or just stick with AKL and hope we get a quiet room?

I'd use my DVC points and just stay put, but that's me. I like to settle in and be "home" for my vacation. Your challenge may be in getting the room - you are pretty close to date and rooms seem to be selling out more this year.

Thanks for the input. We would not switch resorts mid-stay, once we're unpacked, we're there to stay until it's time to go home. I'm just debating whether it's smart to use so many points for a weekend stay or just keep our cash ressie at AKL and hope that the noise isn't an issue.
