Should we stay...or should we go?

My husband and I have stayed three times at BWI club level in two years. Twice just the two of us and once with our adult children. We love everything about BWI, especially the Club level CM’s. All three trips to us have been perfect in every way, but should we try another resort? We currently have BWI club level booked again for May 2018 after going back and forth from MK resorts and Animal Kingdom. My husband loves the transportation to the parks and the fact we can walk to two resorts. To him that along with the club level that draws him back. I kind of want to try something new, but I am afraid if we do and it’s not what we have experienced before I will hear the dreaded “we had the perfect place, we should have stayed at Boardwalk” speech. Advice please.. should we stay we or should we go to something new?

:thanks:

In my opinion from what I have read in your post, you should Stay with BWI club level. You love it, you say is perfect for you, why rock the boat? If you change, throughout your entire stay at the new resort you will be comparing it to BWI.

We have done AKL the past three trips and for next trip at trying the BC.

I think a change its absolutely a good thing, and while some comparing will go on, a change may be quite refreshing! Staying in a new section of WDW can really provide a different perspective on the place as well.

There are certainly pro's and con's. For instance in my case, the AKL does not provide relatively easy access to any park in the way the BC or monorail resorts do; however the AKL is relatively low key and relaxing, which can come with advantages.

I say try something new and have fun! (The AKL comes highly recommended by many, myself included)

We just stayed at the Polynesian last month (not club level), but that could be considered both a MK and a EPCOT area resort with the TTC within walking distance. We are also staying at BCV for our next trip and then back home to BLT after that. We love BLT, but it has been great to see what each resort has to offer. Each time it is a different vibe for the trip and we make a point of doing something we have never done before on each trip.

This is how we are about BC. We've found that we like to do split stays now to try new places for a few nights (at the beginning of the trip), without the commitment of our whole trip at a new place and missing BC the whole time. Also we go multiple times a year so for shorter trips I'm ok with trying something new, but our long summer trip I've got to have at least 7-8 nights at BC.

This is how we are about Poly CL. My ratio of Poly CL trips compared to other resorts is significantly one sided!

That being said, I still like to try other places. Keeps things fresh/interesting and I learn a lot about other options, what’s better or worse, etc. Also helps me appreciate the things I like about Poly.

I have a fear of paying for a long stay somewhere new in case it ends up being a dud, so I like what @Shellyb84 said about shorter trips or a quick split if that is an option. We’ve been in that habit recently.

I haven’t personally been to BWI CL but it seems that among many DISers the people that love BWI CL tend to really love BWI CL, so I’m sure it’s hard to break away. Good luck whatever you decide.

This is how I was with BWI as well (though I prefer BWV - it's a little quieter in our experience), however, I got an amazing discount on WL CL over the summer and I thought I would give it a go. Oh . . . my . . . gosh . . . in LOVE with WL CL. The resort is gorgeous, CL lounge and staff were amazing and there was SO MUCH to do there. Plus we got a MK area resort (CL level, no less) at a much better price than staying on the monorail. We loved the boats, loved walking or boating over to Ft. W and, because we were in a standard view CL room, we could see the MK fireworks from our room. It was amazing! We will be back to BWI at some point (probably next year), but we are staying at WL again in a little over a month (doing a CCV 1-bedroom this time). I vote for trying something new!

We do as some of the others have posted. Do the majority of our stay at our preferred resort (for us that's BC) and stay at another resort for 2 nights. We have regretted only one of the other resorts but were happy that we hadn't committed a longer stay at the new resort. It's allowed us to find other places we would be happy to stay if we couldn't get a reservation at BC or if we want a less expensive stay. Our trip in May we are staying at CSR for 7 nights (have tried a 5 night stay there and really enjoyed it) and are considering doing 2 nights at Poly for a new change or maybe just going back to BC....

I would stay with what you love. Many, many other folks have also posted about how wonderful BWI CL CM’s are

I feel the same way you do. I love the BWI club level cast members and love staying there. I feel so lucky when I am able to get a room there. Unfortunately, for me it is difficult to get one with my cast discount. I am very lucky I have one for my trip in December, just 26 more days! We are there to celebrate my 65th birthday and there is no place and no one I would rather celebrate it with than the Innkeepers Club and their cast.

When we can’t get a room there we book the BC, and it just is not the same. This past September we didn’t even stay club level because I was just not impressed with them to spend the money. I have 3 trips booked for next year booked at the BC, but will keep calling to try to switch to the BWI!

Thank you so much for your advice. I’m sharing your responses with my husband and I hope soon to make a decision of whether staying at BWI club level again, doing a split stay, or trying something new. The updated Flower and Garden dates may just change things for us, since we arrive May 18th the last day of the festival.

If I were to go to another Club Level, it would be Polynesian. Monorail to MK and nice walk (IMO--some may disagree) to TTC to monorail to EPCOT.

THIS!!! WL is our favorite WDW resort by far! How did you get an "amazing discount" on WL CL? When staying onsite, we normally stay WL DVC & love it! OP, if you're thinking about a split stay - consider WL for sure!

If your husband loves the transportation at BWI, I would stick to MK area resorts. While AKL is nice, it is out of the way and transportation times can be long if you are not going to Animal Kingdom. We love the atmosphere at Poly (we bought there).
