We are very excited to be taking our first trip to Universal!!! We are on a tight budget but decided it would be worth the extra money to stay onsite for the FOTL. When I called to make reservations, the woman talked me into HR because she said it wouldn't be much more than RP with the AP discount. She couldn't tell me what the AP discount would be yet because they weren't released yet, but said if I called back in April/May, they would know. Well, I just called back and was told they probably won't be offering any AP discounts for the dates we're traveling. :sad1:

I don't know if I should just wait it out and hope that they do offer discounts or if I should just switch to RP so it doesn't cost as much. I liked how close HR was...the reservationist told me it was the closest and just a short walk. Is RP much farther? Is it really worth the extra money to stay at HR?

I'm so upset right now. The only reason I got the AP was to get the discount. I guess at least I get discounts on the other tickets, so it will make up for the extra costs.

It Takes 7 mins at a leisurely pace from RPR to Citywalk ,prob 9 mins to IOA and another couple of mins to Universal. We ae staying RPR again in July, not sure of your dates, but i would not by the annual pass till i found out what the rates are, but like yourself , it sems there is not going to be any AP rates for Summer.
at least you will have discounts on tickets - merchandise etc when there.

Not sure of your dates, but if you are AAA members they offer room discounts plus 10% discount at park restaurants, stores, and most City Walk restaurants. We love the HRH and will be returning in Aug.

We always stay at RPR. I would say switch if its cheaper. I would not count on discounts this summer as its been mentioned many times that past few weeks. You can stay at RPR and pool hop the HRH like we do, the best of both worlds.:thumbsup2

how many in your group?
if you have 3, switch to rph.

the room will be fine for you.

go to the website/universalorlando.com and plug your dates in for hotel availability.
use the selection for viewing all 3 of the hotels.

put in promotion and then the next box APH to check the ap rates for your dates.

compare the prices and then choose which hotel you want.

if the dates are not available for your time period at the hrh, they may be at another hotel.

i checked mine for october rates and see the end of sept thru oct 6 has standard rooms for $139 + tax per night at rph.

if this is the first time for you at the darkside, you probably won't be doing much sitting around in the room but rather spending it at the parks, city walk or the pools.

spend less on the room and more on treats and souvenirs......
