I wanted to see if it is really worth the extreme cost of parasailing??
(my daughter's 12 birthday) she doesnt weigh enough so I would have to go.
or is there enough to do on CC for us to save the money?

I can't tell you if it's worth the $$, (I didn't parasail). I just can tell you that my DH and DD loved it, but wished it was longer. (It's a very popular activity.) :D

My daughter tried to go last cruise, it was cancelled at the last minute due to high winds....She can't wait for this one so maybe she get another chance

My DD and I did the parasailing excursion on CC during our first cruise in August 2003. We really enjoyed it, but this something that we won't go out of our way to do again, we had more fun on the BBR on CC.

My DH and DS8 did the parasailing on CC just a couple of weeks ago and just loved it! My son was so proud of himself that he did it and said it was the coolest thing he's ever done.

When we tried to reserve about noon for the 2 pm slot, they told us they had availability on the 3pm. The crew was all looking at each other when they told us that so my husband asked the very direct question of "Is the 2pm trip full?". In response to our question, they started laughing and said "we'll take you at 2pm." (It turned out they didn't have anyone else signed up for that trip and were hoping to have a crew trip.) Since it wasn't full, they allowed me to ride on the boat with them. It was great. I was able to take some fabulous photos and enjoy the boat ride. The crew was really nice and we had a great time.

I did it with my DD in 2003 and felt it was worth the $$. DD was 9 and I don't swim!!! but I wanted her to experience parasailing. We're going on the Magic in April, I ask if she wants to do it again, she said she wants to try something different so we may try the banana boat or the eco tour.

My son did it and loved it. A couple of cautions. The release you are required to sign at the last minute is the worst I have ever seen, it releases them from any responsibility for injury even if it is their fault and their negligence. Also, they overbook and make people ride tandem whether they want to or not. The day we were there the lady was rude to a lot of people and told off color jokes during the briefing. Their price is 40% higher than the same experience on other cruises. All that said, though, my DS 17 thought it was a fantastic experience and would do it again!!

I was going to say that the price is pretty average for parasailing - it is an expensive experience (and way too short!). I did it years ago and highly recommend you try it once!!!

DH and DS (12) did it on CC in Nov, LOVED it! DS tandem'd with a little girl from our DIS group, and DH went solo.

Re: the release form, I don't know about Bahamian law, but in the US the courts don't look favorably upon indemnification against one's own fault, especially with consumers (this will vary by state). In the end, it probably doesn't matter, if the operator is "judgment proof" - i.e., the company's total assets is all of two little motor boats and a couple of parachutes and a de minimus insurance policy...

BUT, back to the OP! Parasailing is fun, unique and pretty safe and your daughter will love the experience!!!! Go for it!

We enjoyed it, but we wouldn't pay that kind of money to do it again. I wish I could be of more help.

We're going on the Western Cruise. Is there any place else to parasail at any of the ports?

VerandahMan, What is the BBR? I looked in the Abbreviations list, but BBR is not there. Just wondering...

TIA
sUZANNE :cool1:

My dd (8 at the time) and I parasailed in CC last May. It was terrific and my dd loved it. My 78 yr old grandma also parasailed for the first time ever! She was so cute and the boat operators said she was probably the oldest person they ever took up. It's definitely worth the experience and it doesn't really take all that long. We were on one of the first trips out and I still made it back in time for some yummy lobster burgers and lots of bahama mama's on the beach!

As far as weight limit...I think (now don't quote me on this) they had like an 80 lb minimum weight listed...BUT I think that is to go alone. I'm not sure there is a minimum weight if you go tandem (2 people together), but there is a maximum weight.

Hope this helps and have fun!
