So..we are booked Nov 28-Dec 4th at SSR with plans to move at 7 months to BLT..We have annual passes and are doing the GAD promotion of making blankets for Haiti.

Well..we planned on using our vouchers to renew our passes and get the 79$ off each...but I didnt' realize taht we could only do this within 30 days of our AP expiration.

The options are to move our trip to Dec 5-10th or the 12th-17th..so we can do the annual pass thing..or keep the trip and get the fast pass vouchers for GAD instead.

What would you do? We have never been to Disney in December. I think I would be a little stressed going the 12-17th bc it is so close to christmas..not sure. Any advice would be appreciated.

Because I like saving $ I think I would opt for the earlier dates in December and save the $79 off the AP's.

I would move my trip to enjoy the AP renewal savings. We are booked in the required time period.

Hi Honey!
It's your husband.
We should change our dates because I'm cheap.
Love,
Bob

do the APs expire on the 5th? If so, can you add a day? Or simply shuffle everything one day over?

I wouldn't want to go the 12th-17th just because it's too close to the holidays for my tastes but the 5-10th would be nice.

:lmao:yes that's my honey..too cute.

Ok so it looks like we'll change to the 5th..our passes will expire on Jan 8th so we will be there during our renewal period. And the autotrain prices are exactly the same for that time period.

I was just worried about all the annoying cheerleaders that may be there during that week..oh well:)

Are you very sure you can use your $79 towards renewing your annual pass? We tried to do it with our December renewals for the celebration $79 and were told we could not. The $79 could only be used towards merchandise not tickets. I would check before changing your plans. Just a thought.

When do your passes expire? Are you sure you can't renew them early?

You can use these to upgrade. These are different than the free birthday passes and the FAQ specifically address upgrading. :goodvibes

They expire on Jan 8th..and yes we found out that we can't renew early.

That's odd because I've always renewed mine early. It expires at the end of April but I always renew it mid-March when I'm at WDW.

I thought it was within plus or minus 30 days from expiration.

My pass has expired April 28 for the last several years because we had a fluke trip at the end of April due to a business trip one year. We normally go mid-March for my birthday. Every year, I renew my AP in mid-March while my old pass is still good. The new pass always has the April 28 expiration date even though I have it in my hands in mid-March. That's more than 30 days before the expiration period.

I called ticketing and they said that if we renew earlier than 30 days the ticket is supposed to renew for that date not the date 30+ days from now. The ticket agent said that they don't advertise early renewal because by rights they can change the date to the day you renew. This is probably a case of a Disney rule that is really just a guideline.
Either way I am not counting on it so I am changing the dates of our trip. Now we are going to be at DVC Dec. 5-10 and its all adventure season so we save 3 whole points. Like I said... I'm cheap!:rotfl:

According to the passholder website you can renew 60 days prior or 30 day after....I'll find it and paste it......I'm back:

Here it is. It is found when you click "renew pass" (this is not the same in the outdated FAQ)

Online Pass Renewal
Below are the passes that you would like to renew:

For Passholder convenience, Passes can be renewed 60 days before and 30 days after the expiration date located on the pass.

Additional Pass Validation
If you would like to renew the Pass of additional family members or friends, please enter their information below.

My DH is doing his GAD this week and we are going in March. I was going to have his renew while there in March just to get it done, since he expires April 29. But if he can't, we'll be back on April 24 to do it then. We plan to use the one day ticket towards his renewal.

That timing makes a lot more sense to me. It fits with my experience in renewing my pass these past several years.

I'm confused why they told my husband that if we renew early, the new AP date will start the day we renew..this way we would lose a month of the ticket time...according to what you are saying, the date doesn't change if you renew before the 30 days prior:confused:
