We went to Disney last year. Me,DW,DS(7),DS(6mos). mainly because of free QSDP and ding fares thru southwest.

Recently booked a trip to Myrtle Beach.we would be driving there from upstate NY...... Than we get a pin for free QS dining if we stay at a value resort.

The return disney trip would be an approx. additional $600. Mostly the cost of airfare over gas. MB is much more relaxing but come on it"s Disney for cryin out loud. I wont have to drive 16 hours each way to MB.

l Need someone to talk me out of it or help me justify it.

Thank You in advance.

I may not be the person to answer this, because I live in a beach resort community, so going to the beach is not my idea of a vacation. However, I would be miserable driving 16 hours to ANYWHERE, especially with an infant. That is not my idea of fun or relaxing to begin with.

What does your wife think? It might be very tiring for her to deal with having an infant at WDW, especially if he doesn't sleep well or is a high-maintenance baby. She might prefer a relaxing beach vacation.

Good luck with your decision! I'm sure you'll have a nice time wherever you go!

Disney! Hands down. We too toyed with a beach vacation this year, but, yeah...Disney won. As for the baby, DS (6 MONTHS) has already been there!

I sent you a PM - but I'd have to vote for Disney as well.

In all reality - your entire family will have a better vacation - AND you will spend less money.

The great thing about Disney is that ALL of your entertainment is included in one low price.

When you go to the beach - or to the mountains - you are dollared to death. Everything costs extra.

At Disney - you go into the parks with a clear instruction to your family about how much each member can spend - or they each have a gift card - and the prices are fixed.

Good planning makes Disney vacations so much more affordable!

THEN - you add in the cost savings of the PIN - and it's clear - FREE FOOD for your entire family!

If you are going in the summer, I think I would actually pick Myrtle Beach.

We love Disney and go each year...some years more than once. BUT...we have gone twice in the summer...June to be exact and won't do it again. The lines are so long, the humidity is unbearable and it rains almost every day. You get wet and soggy and then have to wait in long lines for a two minute ride. Our whole family got hot and frustrated and started snapping with each other. Just not enjoyable.

Don't get me wrong....I LOVE Disney. But only if I can go at a less busy more comfortable time of the year.

Now if you are going in October or November or even early December, then I would definitely pick Disney!

Have fun wherever you go!!

I would vote WDW, but with an open mind to go to the parks EARLY, before it is stifling hot or too crowded. Have some fun, have lunch, then leave the parks to swim, see other resorts, swim some more and relax. Then later, when people start dropping like flies, due to the humidity, you can go back to the parks, rested and relaxed and hopefully a little bit cooler!:goodvibes

Have fun, and a no cook for your wife, minimal driving for you, vacation sounds more relaxing overall!

Did you eat at Wolfgang Puck Express in DTD on the QS plan? Yummmm!

If you went to Myrtle Beach, would you be thinking of Disney the entire time and wishing you went there instead?

If I was given the option I would pick Disney, but I have never gone with a baby. Is the extra money an issue? What kind of plans did you have made for MB? Discuss it with your DW and get her perspective. Have fun no matter what you decide!

I'm slightly biased to Myrtle Beach, since we're only about three hours away. But, if I were going to fight the humidity and temps to come this far south, I'd keep going right on to see the mouse!lol

Let's see, you're on a public forum devoted to all things Disney....do you expect people to tell you you're better off at Myrtle beach? ;)

Seriously though, driving 16 hours with an infant is not high on my list of things to do - even if Disney was at the end of it. And I've personally never been one for beach vacations - but we do go to Ocean City, MD, each year because we go with family & friends who love beach vacations.
