Should we even bother with going?

When hotel rooms are selling out this early, my experience is that it is due to a convention (Anahiem has the largest convention center on the west coast) and many conventions have little impact on the crowds at the Park. From the convention center's website, it looks like there is large convention "Natural Products Expo West" that runs through the 14th. We have been there during that convention before (I think it was 2008) and found that crowds were fairly normal. I agree to go ahead and book a fully refundable hotel reservation now and have a great trip -- Suzanne

I actually attended Natural Products Expo West this last spring. We went to the parks Thurs & Fri evenings and did Magic Morning Saturday AM. The crowds were not bad at all. The convention itself involves a lot of walking, as it is a trade show (very tiring), and they usually have a special concert for attendees on one of the weekend nights, so it's not like the entire convention population is racing over to DLR.

I'm pretty sure that Saturday AP blockouts start that weekend as well, which will be in your favor. I say go for it!!!

If it's a weekend, they usually have a lot of cheerleading competitions in March in Anaheim.

Just FYI, in reference to the map cited above, if your group is young and doesn't have any problems with walking, I walked just fine to DLR from the Ramada Plaza. I know a lot of people say the Candy Cane Inn is fine to walk, and the Ramada Plaza is just a little farther (and across the street, granted).

Of course, that hotel is fairly close to the convention center, so it's possible that it's sold out too. (We went there in 2005 because it was the only adequately-priced hotel we could find, and it was fully adequate. :) )

I want to second this. We've stayed at the Ramada Plaza twice and have walked that distance many a times. Manageable as long as you don't have really little ones who get tired easily.

I'd say anything closer than that (including Desert Palms, Candy Cane, and anything between Castle Inn and HoJos on Harbor) is within a decent "walking distance"

Here's where I saw the April 2010 date...when I was looking at it though, it specifically said April 24 and it's since changed. I know it's wikipedia and anyone can enter anything, but it's the only thing I've found that's more specific than "Spring"

Well my dates are still technically winter, so hopefully we'll miss those crowds.
