We (2 adults 2 children) will only be staying 3 nights. The first night would only be dinner. I was thinking of just doing the Captain Cook's at Poly (where we are staying). The second day we are there I thought we would grab breakfast at kona cafe and lunch at Captain Cook's and then I have reservations at Hoop De doo for dinner. The next day we will be in Magic Kingdom and thought we would grab breakfast at the bakery on Main Street. We are eating lunch at Cinderella's Castle and then Dinner at O'hanas. The next morning we are leaving for our cruise, so we will just be grabbing a quick breakfast somewhere (onsite). Would DDP save us money?

Thank you for your time,

Jennifer

With three nights, you'll get 3TS, 3CS and 3 snack credits. You're planning on doing 6TS over your vacation (two 2TS meals, and two 1TS meals), and you may not even use up all three of your CS. So the Dining Plan doesn't seem like a good match. However, you really need to do the math: (I'll just do it for those over 9 years old... the young child's Dining Plan is so inexpensive that it won't matter much.)

And it does seem like you could save money on the Dining Plan. You would pay cash for Cinderella's and breakfast at Kona. You would use your Dining Plan credits for Hoop-de-doo and 'Ohana. I assumed that you'll use up your snack credits, one way or another, but will leave one CS credit unused. The cost per adult would be about $180 (the cost of the Dining Plan, plus the cash cost of the two meals where you wouldn't use your Dining Plan credits). For that, you'd get about $193 of value. So, you'd save about $13 per person over 9 years old, for the whole stay at the hotel.
