Should we cancel if it's a tropical storm?

We arrive Sunday the 28th in the morning and leave on Saturday. We are staying at RPR. I'm very worried about the weather. I was prepared for rainstorms but not a tropical storm. Any advice??

If you are flying, you may get delayed til late Mon/Tues if the storm hits (depending on the exact timing and location of the storm). If you are not delayed, you may have a very rough flight on Sunday. If you are okay with those possibilities, go.

I don't thing the tropical storm will last all week. It will certainly clear the park out. Sounds pretty good to me!

Other than the transportation issue mentioned above, I wouldn't worry about it too much. If a storm hits, it'll likely be one day at most that you'd be inclined to stay inside.

We were at Disney when a tropical storm hit and it was not a big deal. We went to Epcot in the rain - just wore our ponchos. But, you can see a wide range of weather in with a tropical storm, so keep watching the weather. Nonetheless, a tropical storm does not usually last days and days. A lot of times hours before the storm will be beautiful weather, and it can blow over pretty quickly.

I'm just going to sit tight and wait. I guess my concern is more with my flight. We leave Halifax at 5:50 AM on Monday morning with a connection in Montreal. We are scheduled to arrive in Orlando at 11 AM.

If the storm hits when you leaving home and the airline contacts you in advance of change of schedule then the decision has been made for you

Loews hotels has a great policy on weather related problems
If inclement weather changes your arrival you are not penalized for your chance of check in
And they will accommodate you when you arrive

So don't change your flights
The airline will do that if deemed necessary

Until the storm hits Florida do nothing
If all that happens is heavy rain and storms, vacation is still durable

We have stayed during a tropical storm. Also took off during a storm.......that was different. Although the worst of it was over, they made the planes take off a much longer time apart........we waited ages to take off, but we did eventually get in the air. We have also been delayed landing due to extreme weather. We were almost diverted to Miami one year but after circling for an age, we did eventually land at MCO.

RPR and I'm sure the other hotels put on extra entertainment around the resort when weather was bad. I remember face painters and balloon animal makers in the lobby area. There was also some kind of craft tables set up........and iced lolly things were given out.

Movies were shown in "I think" the kids club.......

That time Orlando just got the tail end of the storm, quite windy and raining.......I think it was 2012 but not totally sure about that.....

Schumi just reminded me that "poolside" movies were shown in the kid club at portofino during one of our freezing trips.

Another thread seems to be saying that IF this storm does anything it'll be on Wednesday.

Bumber do you have any idea or more than me which part of Florida will have the greatest impact?

I'm watching the weather as I will be south of Orlando area on Tuesday late afternoon and all Wednesday
I'm not seeing predictions anywhere for what section of Flo will get hit first

Needless to say weather here in Florida can be unpredictable at times.

Fast moving weather systems can move in and bring rain in the morning and then it will be sunny and beautiful in the afternoon and visa versa.

Tropical storm systems can move and cover an area and stay for a while or not. It just depends.

When we purchased our home here 8 years ago we had a tropical storm that came off the ocean and the system stayed for a number of days with flooding and trees being blown over.

The information we are receiving here right now is the trajectory of the storm is still uncertain. They are asking everyone to be prepared in case this does turn into hurricane.

Hopefully this system will lesson as it makes its way past the Bahamas.

Predictions are that whether it is Tropical storm or Hurricane it should be here by Sunday or Monday.

That being said hopefully the weather will settle down and vacations won't be affected and we won't have to experience our first hurricane in Florida.

My situation doesn't seem as dire today but I'm watching the weather around the clock. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that our flights won't be cancelled.

Same here. We fly out Monday afternoon and are just keeping a positive attitude and a close eye on things. Feeling better after watching morning reports today.

We toured WDW as a Tropical Storm went through in Oct 1999. It was actually a great day, we got a lot done, even though we wore ponchos most of the day. And then it let up for the fireworks and parade (only on Sat nights back then). I don't let storm threats keep me from the parks. Driving straight into the storm the next day as we drove home left a lot to be desired though.....
