Going to Universal/IOA on 3/1/12. Should I buy the universal express pass? We are not Harry Potter fans at all, so I think our time will only be spent in U/IOA. I thought if it was crowded that would help us get through the park in the one day. What do you think? It is my, my husband and 10 year old son. We are staying offsite. Thanks.

Not before you go. Wait to see crowds that day with your own eyes before deciding. They are not refundable and date-specific.

It's a Thursday in the offseason--I highly doubt you'll need it.

As an FYI, HP is part of the IOA (Islands of Adventure) and even as non fans, it is a really neat area with a good coaster and FJ, which is a simulator type ride. But the entire section takes probably 20 minutes to walk through, plus any ride wait times, if you aren't going into any of the shops, etc. The other "islands" in IOA include super hero, Seuss, Cartoon (?), and Jurassic. USF is the other park, and has Men in Black, Simpsons, etc.
