Should we bother to waitlist?

We have decided at the last minute to try and go to WDW in late June. So far, the only availability we have found is for SSR. We have stayed there before and are just not big fans. We own at OKW and that is where we usually stay. Also, my apologies to SSR owners but we are from KY, so horse themeing just doesn't do it for us.

Anyway I was wondering where you think we should try to waitlist? We need a 2 bedroom unit for 8 adults. We were wanting to stay 7 nights in late june/early July. I have to be back home by the 5th. Thanks for the suggestions.

We have never tried waitlisting before and didn't know what our chances might be. Any advice would be appreciated.

We've waitlisted a couple of weeks before New Year's Eve and got it. I would go ahead and do it since it can't hurt!

Waitlisting never hurts - people have to cancel trips all the time. If I were you, I would book SSR, and then waitlist OKW and KV. Those 2 resorts have more available rooms, and you might get lucky and have your waitlist come thru. I would also check the online system for additional choices to show up when they are cancelled by another member.

The only problem you might have is points in holding if you waitlist up to the seven days out waitlist. OKW will require fewer points than SSR, so you'll have points left over. Will you be able to bank them or will you be closer than four months to the end of your UY? If you have holding points, will you be able to use them before the end of your UY?

Ok. Honestly, I have no clue what you are talking about! I'm so ashamed! My wife handles all that. All I do is sit over to the side and yell "I WANT TO GO TO DISNEY!!" and then she usually handles the rest! Lol!

I spoke with dw and you are exactly right. Our UY is aug 1st so we can't book and wait list a cheaper resort.
