Should we back out and do resale?

Alright, we've backed out. Now the fun begins of researching home resorts, resale prices, etc. Have already been researching quite a bit and my head is spinning. For the price alone, I'm leaning toward SSR or OKW but having to decide whether the trade offs are worth it for us for transportation to the parks, etc. As of right now, we're not held to school schedules, etc. so I'm thinking we'll be able to book most places in the off seasons at 7 months out but we also love Epcot so much it would be nice to be at BWV or BCV and just walk there or HS and also be able to walk into Epcot and take the monorail to the MK. Trying to formulate some random thoughts into questions and will probably post a new thread with those.

Don't get too attached to the notion that because you travel "off season" you will be able to book wherever you want at 7 months. Peak season for Disney in general is not the same as peak season at DVC. I am sure some more experienced DVCers can explain which times of year are very popular at DVC. I do know that October (Food and Wine) is very popular and DVCs book up especially the Epcot properties.

I think you made a good decision. We bought at BLT but have stayed there only once in 3 trips. We have been able to pretty much get what we want at 7 months or make small compromises. BWV garden views are pretty easy to book, at least in my experience. It really depends how attached to one resort you are/will be, vs. your desire to try multiple places. SSR is a really good value for both its low price and low dues. Really the rooms that you will be able to book at 7 months everywhere will be the ones the owners of those resorts don't care for, like BLT lake view, AKL savannah rooms, BWV garden view for example. The only reason to own at AKL IMHO is to be able to book concierge and/or value rooms. Good luck with your search and keep us updated! :thumbsup2

My sister bought BLT a couple of years ago. So far she's stayed there and OKW. She has one five year old.

While she liked the BLT location, she really liked the extra space in the OKW one bedroom. What she really LOVED was the low point per night cost at OKW, so she's planning her next trip for OKW already.

I think she has the best of both worlds. She owns at a hard to book resort, so if she really wants BLT she can book it. If she's looking to save points she can usually book OKW at 7 months because of the resort's size.
