Should We Avoid Hoop Dee Doo Category 3 Seating?

Only category 1 or 3 seating is available for the dates we want to see Hoop Dee Doo, and if we do DDP we have to take category 3. How far away from the stage are these seats? Will we still feel like were part of the show? We generally don't go to shows if we can't get good seats. Does anyone ever cancel this show, so maybe category 2 could become available at some point? This will be DH and DD's first time.

Your input will help us decide whether to book DDP and just take cat. 3, or pay for cat. 1, not get DDP, and spend about $120 more on dining. Hmm, the answer seems obvious when I put it that way, but we really don't like lousy seats and it's their first show.

The place isnt that big, Cat 3, your on top looking down,
Id book it.

If you want you can try to call back closer to your date and see if there is a Cat 2 seating..

We did Category three last year and it was fine. We were upstairs, on the side of the stage and it was great seats-
Plus, they came upstairs and were singing with us, lol!
We are going to try to do it again, but we might buy OOP instead of using two TS-
good luck!

We ate at the HDDR last year and had cat2 seats. We were seated at the far back corner of the place. We took a walk upsairs and noticed that the view was great from up there. We are going back to the HDDR this year and booked cat3.

Hope this helps

We're considering a night at Hoop-Dee-Doo during our trip in October. It will be our first time. If we go, I'm going to use the 2TS credits on the DDP, but go for the 9:30 p.m. show so we can get Category 1 seating. Not knowing how old your daughter is, that might be a little too late for her. My kids are 17 and 14, so I think we'll be okay. I myself would actually prefer one of the earlier shows, but, knowing my two kids, they would enjoy being in the middle of all the action. They're not the shy type!;)

DD is 7, so can't do the late show. She's not shy either, in fact enjoys and is good at performing. I'm hoping that performers will stop by our table, since we'll be celebrating 7 years since we adopted the light of my life - my happy, brilliant and enthusiastic little girl.

Sounds like Hoop-Dee-Doo would be something she would really enjoy! :)

Just an FYI - some of the category 2 seating is upstairs in the balcony towards the back of the room so there isn't any guarantee you would get first floor seating with category 2.

Here is a seating chart

We would not consider anything but Cat-1 . . .

1) Better seats ALWAYS cost more - Broadway or HDDR.
2) Regardless of what people say.
3) Repeat, regardless of what people say.
4) Categories
. . . Cat-1, floor level and back to 2/3 of house
. . . Cat-2, back 2/3 of house to rear of room and some balcony
. . . Cat-3, all balcony, 1/2 of table cranks neck, some views blocked by posts

NOTE: HDDR tables in each category are assigned by the date of the ressie. Earlier ressies get the better tables. The exception are tables #044 and #045 which are kept open until show-day for last minute handicapped guests. Table numbers are identified as 044 = floor-level, fourth-row-from-front, fourth-table-from-left.

Oh boy... something to think about... We haven't been in about 6 years, and were considering booking this in September during free dining since our younger 2 children haven't seen it yet. I do rememer it was difficult to get to from another resort when you rely on disney transportation. it was like 2 or 3 busses... But, what I didn't remember was the categories.. and didn't realize if you're on the dining plan you are limited to which category you can book? How does that work again? and I don't recal how long each seating was? So if you are seated at the late dinner? how long does it last? and how late would you expect to be out of there? Depending on these answers, might help me in deciding if we should skip it, or try to book it..

We've done the Revue over 10 times, 9 Cat. 1 and once cat. 3. That being said, the cat 3 was horrible but it was all they had left. We were mid theatre, upper level and your backs are to the stage, alot of neck craning. We felt like we were not part of the action. All our cat. 1 seating has been top notch, been part of the show twice and at most we were only 10 feet from the stage. Entertainers come right down to your tables, interact with the guests, last show seems to us as being more on the ad lib side since most guests with children took the earlier shows. For my money, I'd pay the price for cat.1, once you're committed why not go all the way, we've never regretted cat. 1.
