We'll be flying into LAX next Wed. afternoon 1:30ish. Do we have time to zip over to Hollywood to see the sign... maybe a little bit of the walk of stars, snap a pic at Chinese Theatre and get to our hotel (Residence Inn Anaheim) with enough time to check-in, freshen up and be ready to head to Medieval Times by 6ish? Keep in mind there will be 8 of us - 4 adults, 4 kids (4 thru 8 - but they're the ones who want to see the Hollywood sign). I don't expect really wanting to hang around there for more than an hour.

We have one non-park day that we could go back up to LA but we'd rather spend the day visiting friends right in Santa Ana than drive up to Hollywood. Is the Hollywood drive-by/drivethru too ambitious after flying in or is it better to do it then, instead of taking a whole day to do it?

If you drive along the 105 freeway you can see the sign.. Otherwise it can be an almost 1.5 to 2 hr. drive back to Anaheim..
Then getting to the hotel etc.. Your choice..

I personally would pass it up.. Nothing too special and I don't think that you can get all that close to it.. The Hollwood sign..

Also You would want to be heading to Anaheim no later than 3 pm as traffic can be horrendous..One day it too me 2 hours to get to Dl and I only live 32.1 miles away..

Then you have to get to Midevil Times and that can take a while on side streets and the freeway..

If you wnated togo you would be cutting it close. If you chose to not go to the hotel first you might be able to do it.. As you are backtraching from the hotel.

I definitely agree here...last weekend I drove to Disneyland on Friday and did Hollywood on Sat...based on that alone I can tell you the traffic would keep you from doing anything...I dont honestly feel its worth making that drive to hollywood...I only went for my dd...it is back to back traffic all along the 101...no just no:sad2:

Bummer, guess we may have to skip it altogether. I don't want to waste our free day just to see the sign.

For a morning drive from Disneyland area to UHS would it be better going north on Orange hwy 57 then heading west? I'd like to avoid I-5 northbound, as I've done that on previous visits. I'm planning on being in the area 4/7 thru 4/14. Any better day of the week to visit UHS than an other, traffic wise?

I am lost... what is this??

Sorry I should have been been more specific. The original question asked if they should attempt a Hollywood drive by. I thought someone might be able to also answer my question about driving from the Disneyland area to Universal Studios Hollywood. I'd be driving in the morning and was hoping to avoid the usual traffic on I-5 Santa Ana northbound. Can anyone tell me if taking a different highway would help or am I going to hit traffic regardless of the route?

The 5 is probably your best bet. The 57 is not much better traffic-wise, and it takes you out of the way a bit. You would still have to cut across, either at the 10, the 60, or the 210, and none of those are much better than 5. At least 5 is a straight shot.

Thanks for the quick reply....much appreciated.
