Yes, I know the characters, the furry ones anyway, don't speak.
Yes, I know why. Not all the "friends" of the characters can do a Goofy voice, a Donald voice etc.
What if they could? What if they had a technology that allowed Mickey to sound like Mickey, Goofy to sound like Goofy, etc. Kind of like my son's Darth Vader voice-changer mask.
Would it be more magical or less?
It's a little frustrating when you finally get to meet Mickey and all he can do is pantomime (wave, nod his head, shake his head,etc.)
On the other hand- pantomime forces them to be creative in communicating and visitors from all nationalities/languages can enjoy them. There is less risk that Mickey-the company figurehead- would slip and say something inappropriate or taken the wrong way or inconsistent with his character and character's history.

so I can imagine if she said something and the voice sounded wrong, it would really spoil things.
