Should I upgrade?

We are booked for Thanksgiving week at Pop Century and have the chance to upgrade to Animal Kingdom Lodge. Is it worth the money? It is my husbands birthday on Thanksgiving day and this would be a nice present for him and the kids.

If you can swing the difference in price, I saw go for it. I saw both of these properties while I was at WDW in Feb and AKL would be my choice. If it wasn't for the fact that I have always wanted to stay at Poly, I would probably be staying at AKL-Savannah in Feb 2006.

I would think that by upgrading at that very busy time of year, you would have a better chance of not feeling like a herd of cattle all the time - even though you would be at "Animal" Kingdom Lodge Buses, foodcourt, etc. at the POP will probably be pretty unbearable.

Although I've not stayed at AKL, we did stay at WL when it was full and even that was really busy - AKL and WL are quite similar.

Thanks to all - I upgraded us to a pool view room with bunk beds. The price was just too good to pass up. We used code YQE and saved 30%.

Last year we stayed at both Pop Music and AKL. AKL was SOOOO worth the extra $. The room, mattress, tub, and sink area are all bigger. The blankets, towels, and even soap are of a better quality. You'll have a frig and enough space to spread out a bit. The activites and on-site extras also make it worth your while. I would upgrade without a moment's hesitation. AKL spoiled me forever. Have a great time!
