We booked a GTY 11 or better but didn't get upgraded. We are now going to be room #7543. There are 2 adults and two boys 9 and 6. What do you think we should do? Thank you for your time.:sunny:

When are you crusing. We got upgraded from a GTY11 to a 9 but we didn't hear about it until a couple of months before cruising.

Good luck to you. Hope you get one. If not, how much time do you expect to be in the room? Do you need the natural light? Is it worth the extra money to upgrade or would you rather spend it on somethine else? Do you think you will need the split bath.

If it were me, I would not upgrade. But I did enjoy then split bath, the porthole, the steamer trunk and the extra space. I think you will have just as much fun without it.

I have stayed in a category 11 and a 9. I went to the 9 for my second cruise mainly because I am the type of person to always open my curtains, etc.. I like natural light. The lack of a porthole drove me crazy. I didn't go all the way to a balcony because I knew I wouldn't use it muchand I new a porthole would be good enough. The split bathrooms in the 9 were also very nice. If budget is an issue we were fine (4 of us) in the 11 and had no complaints!

If you are asking if you should upgrade, then you should upgrade. If you are questioning a cat 11, UPGRADE!

I personally like the cat 11's. The only down side for me is the one bathroom. I like the split bathroom. But I prefer a dark room on the inside. It depends on what you like.

If you need natural light, then upgrade!

We have done both the cat 6 & cat 9 and are staying in a cat 9 for our upcoming cruise.....the portal is so big & since I MUST, I mean REALLY MUST see daylight, and didnt spend that much time on the verandah, the first go around, I will ALWAYS book the cat 9.

I stayed in a Cat. 11 on deck 6 last October and loved my cabin.
We have rebooked for Cat. 11 deck 6 only two cabins down from our last cruise. It is midship and convenient to everything. There will be four of us but we don't plan to stay in our room. Enjoy!

We sailed in a cat. 11 on deck 7 earlier this year. I really liked our location on deck 7; it was convenient to the pools and upper decks. Also, at the very back of deck 7 is a small deck with some lounge chairs. It's a quiet area to get some fresh air.

I think you need to consider if you will miss the natural light with an inside cabin and if you are the type to spend a lot of time in your cabin or are you always on the go. We tend to be on the go a lot. And if we were back in the cabin during the day, it was usually for a nap, in which case darkness was a plus (but you must bring your own alarm clock! :D ) We had only three in our cabin and DS was 4 at the time. So, not having the split bath wasn't a big deal for us. For you, I think the bathroom situation could go either way. There are 4 of you, so a split bath would be nice, but since they are boys you probably could get by. If you had two girls that age or older, I would think a split bath would be more critical.

Well, I hope this helps. Good luck with whatever you decide! :wave2:

Upgrading to anything with the split bath's will give you more storage space.

Check out this tread where I compared Deluxe v. Standard rooms to see if it will help you make a decision.

:earsgirl: Our room is right near the Elevator so, I will be easy to get everywhere. Plus if there's no natural light that means my boys might sleep in. So, That Sounds Wonderful. Thank you all for your in put. Deck 7 in a cat 11 should be just fine.
Thanks again:wave2:
