I can upgrade my 1 bedroom view from an Island Garden view to a poolside garden view for an additional $80 per night. Is it worth it? Does the pool area get noisy?

Pool area is noisy but We found Aulani's sliding glass doors to keep out the noise. We were ocean view on 16th floor overlooking the pool. We could hear crowd noise at the pool when we were on the balcony. We enjoyed the live music at the bar below us in the evenings but could block it out if we closed the glass door.

OP, how do you know you can upgrade for that price ahead of time? Did you call? Just curious because we are going to try to upgrade upon arrival. Thanks!! And side note, I haven't stayed there yet but I think that is a good deal :)

I agree. Save the money. We were in Room 454, poolside garden view. Our view looked down into a corner of the lazy river and onto the stage of the O'lelo room and out into a palm tree. No ocean at all, and very little pool view. Pool wasn't noisy, but we could hear the music from the lounge every night. Music was nice but one night we were really tired and they played a little late (almost 10 pm). That's only bad for an east coaster who hasn't made the time shift yet. We liked our room, but we were hardly in it at all during the day. The east coast time thing also got us up early and we were at the pool all day from breakfast on. I can't say it would be worth $80 more to have a room in this location. On the other hand, you might get one with a really good view.

I just checked the price on the Aulani website as though I was making a new reservation.

I'd suggest sticking with what you have. Your view in a "Island Garden" view will probably just be of some lush foliage 20' away.

I have booked an DVC Island Garden view studio and wondered if an upgrade might be possible. Probably not with a DVC booking, huh? Plus, I think I would also save the $80 to go out to eat after reading this thread. I do like that Monkeypod Kitchen across the street....
