Should I take my stroller or rent one?

Ok....this will be the first time to DW for our DD's, 6 & 2. I was just going to rent either 2 strollers or a double one when we get there. Our 6 yr. old definitely needs one!!!! She whines about her legs and feet even when we go to the mall! Anyway, how are the rentals? Does anyone have pics of them? And do they have rentals at DTD??? That is my biggest concern. We would definitely need one for our 2 yr. old when we are at DTD. What do you guys normally do?

I haven't needed to use a stroller for a long time since my son is 10, but I would think you might want to bring at least an umbrella stroller so you don't have to carry your daughters to and from the car or whatever transportation you are using to get to the parks. Plus the rentals don't look very comfortable. From what I remember, the rentals are big and bulky and don't have much storage space.

To rent or not to rent....well, your own stroller can certainly be handy for getting your youngest one from your mode of transportation to the park each day as nothing is a short distance from transportation! My DS was 8 1/2 on his first visit (very tall for his age mind you) and he was begging for one of the rental strollers by day 2. So, I gave in and rented one of the double ones (so he would have more room for his long legs) and it was the best $$ spent on our trip!

If you do rent and are park hopping remember that you don't have to re-rent at each park - one rental charge is good for all day (at least that's how it was when rented a few years ago).

I also found the stoller quite easy to steer and the shaded cover came in quite handy.

We've done the double stroller both times to WDW. We have 3 kids and believe me it is a life saver, especially at MK. The back of the stroller has a few pockets to hold your map, autograph book, bottle of water, etc. We carried a diaper bag the first trip and we would put that right on top of the stroller, tucked under the sun cover. The worst part was getting the kids to walk back to the bus stop for the resort. I would rather spend the money to rent a stroller, then to try to juggle the kids and a stroller getting on and off the buses (especially if you are looking at a stroller big enough for 2). If you are using Disney buses to get back and forth to the parks you have to remember that you aren't always lucky enough to get a seat, sometimes you have to stand and holding on to a stroller and bracing yourself for the ride can be hard. Then again renting a stroller everyday got expensive. Last trip I think it was $8 for a single and $15 for a double. I thought that I read that you can prepay for your rentals for the whole trip and WDW offered a discount. For the life of me I can't think of where I would of read that though. Sorry I don't have a pic for you. The strollers are plastic and are pretty low to the ground. The seat part is a molded plastic and is deep enough that the kids feet are inside the stroller, they have a mesh roof/cover and mesh sides and back. There is a space to put your nametag in.....that is very important...try to picture finding your stroller in a group of 30 after watching Philharmagic , and also a few pockets for other things. I don't remember if you can rent a stroller at DTD. Which ever you decide do have a great trip.

I would buy 2 really cheap umbrella strollers(ugly ones) for less than 10 each. That way if you lose them or don't want them at the end of the trip it's no loss. And they fold to nothing and you can hook one over your arm like an umbrella.I think a double will be too bulky when folded if you are using transportation around the park or to the parking lots.

Just got back from Disney over spring break--the prices are $10 for a single and $18 for a double.

We took our own even on the buses and it wasn't a problem, but we just had a single. Remember, you can't take the rented strollers outside the park, and some of the park entrances are considerable distances from the bus pick up/drop off points and at the end of the day, those can feel pretty long, especially if you're carrying a couple of kids.

I'm struggling with this decision as well. My son, who will be 3, will obviously still be in a stroller, we'll bring his from home. Not sure what to do with my girls, who may get tired. They'll be 6 & 7. I may just bring another cheapie umbrella from home.

We're bringing our Quest with us when DD is 4. I figure it's more of a hassle to stand in line and rent the stroller (and pay for it!) and then return it than it is to just bring our own. Plus, if we go to Downtown I'd like to have the stroller with us. Or even at the resort.

For the price of a rental all week you can buy your own. We ahve 3 kids and would never travel without our own. 1 double and a single.
