Should I take my cat to Disney?

I am a relatively new cat owner and will be going up to WDW soon for only one night. I usually leave her at home and have a friend visit everyonce in a while to check in on her.

This time, I had the crazy idea to take her with us and take her to one of the Disney Kennels.

Does anyone have any recomendations or experience on this?

Thanks!

Leave the cat home. He will survive 1 day without you. Leave plenty of food and water and a clean litter pan.

Definitely leave the cat at home. Putting the kitty in a kennel may upset it more than staying at home by itself.

I agree! Cats are better left in their own environment when you go out of town, especially if it's for a very short time.

I've got to agree with the other posters, let your cat stay home. My cat, now about 13, does quite well home alone even when I've been gone over a week. I do have someone come by about every other day to check her food. Since she can enter and exit our home as she chooses, the litter box is OK for the time period if my "cat checker" doesn't care to scoop for us.

One thing you should be prepared for, though, is for your cat to demand extra attention following your return. Mine will "talk" to me more than usual for a day or two and wants to be on or near me. Also, you might have a cat like one my sister had that would shred TP or paper towels when DSis and BIL went away for more than the day. Might have been boredom but we saw it as cat payback :teeth:

I also agree that one night by itself is less traumatic than going to the disney kennel. It will save you money too.

Also in some cases there is a possibility of your cat contracting an illness. From a cold to FeLv. Now I know your cat is probably protected BUT after having a cat with it you find out that not everything is 100% foolproof.

1 day , please leave him home...ask a friend to check if you are worried. But hewill be fine:D

Sent you a private message concerning this.

I promise that she would rather stay at home then be stuck in a strange kennel all day.

Cats don't do real well traveling alot like some dogs do... they like to hang out at home =)

After punishing you by fully ignoring you the first hour or so you're home... :teeth:

I agree - leave her home. I leave my two alone for weekends with plenty of food and water. (And an electronic litter box!)

Oh no, no, no, no, no, deffinately leave the cat at home. As long as you leave her with enough food and water, she can survive one night.

LEAVE THE CAT AT HOME! I have owned several cats over the years, and my mom has been a cat breeder. Cats are extremely territorial and don't do at all well outside their environment. The cat will be miserable at the kennel as well as traveling. We often only have someone check on our cats every few days, but if your worried about your cat, have someone check on her every day.

I was gone 3 days the last time, put out 3 bowls of Dry food, and she was fine.....she did IGNORE me the first 2 hours I was home though.

I used to take my cats everywhere with me, even though it was an ordeal for them (carsickness).

Then I read, cats are more attached to their environments than their "people" I've left them home since then. They like me better this way, and are less stressed when they see us packing our suitcases.
