Should I Take Her?

My 5 yo will be 6 June 30. Our 8 year old has been to Maryland and various places in MD/PA (Hershey Park, etc) twice. Our ds will go the first week of June to MD/PA (hershey Park, etc). Our 5 yo has never been anywhere apart from her siblings. So. . .I was thinking of a WDW surprise--arrival on June 29, departure on July 1 for her birthday. She and I could go to Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios and then go home. The trips each are similar in cost, but I am not ready to watch her go to Maryland with her godparents for another 2 years, in which time her siblings each will have another trip.

i would definately take her...that's such a great age for Disney. However, how will your other kids feel if they know you are going to Disney w/o them. Hershery Park is fun and all...but it's no Disney!!!

Did your older two have to wait for a certain age to go on these trips? If so, I would let the younger one wait as well without taking her to WDW as a substitute trip. Unless you took each of the older ones to Disney when they were too young to go with the godparents then I don't think it would be fair to them. I'd save Disney for the whole family, but that's just me.

I agree with both points above:

1) How would your other kids feel? Hershey and other places are no substitute for Disney.

2) How old were your other kids when they went on their first "big" trip? Will they be jealous?

When DD#1 was nine and DD#2 was 3, I took DD#1 to WDW without DH or DD#2. #2 was young enough that she didn't have any idea where #1 and I were going. DH thought #2 was getting ripped off, so I promised him that when #2 is nine, I would take her without #1. By the time that happens, #1 will be 15 and may or may not like it, but I'll just remind her that she got to do it and now it's her baby sister's turn. So, I guess I think it's fine to take one and not the others.
