Should I switch resorts?

I got a fantastic deal on CBR for 4night/5 days in early september. My dream resort is to stay at the Poly. I just checked and saw a price drop for it for the same time. It would be around $550 more total to stay at Poly. Is it worth it??? We are doing 1 day at waterparks, 1 resort day, and 1 day at epcot. Am I crazy for splurging on this? Also I might add we are about 4 weeks out and I already got my magic bands....

I would say if Poly is your Dream resort then I would switch! We didn't care for CBR when we stayed there and if you don't get any charges for changing it do it. I can't believe Poly is only $550 more.

Yeah, that's a great rate for the Poly. Just beware there is still a bit of construction going on at the Quiet Pool area, I believe. It's not supposed to be bad, but your room could end up facing construction.

We are in a similar situation. We were staying at POR until the passholder rates rolled out and we were able to get AKL for only $300 more. I would definitely make that switch! Poly is one of my resorts I cannot wait to stay at! I'm hoping we get to stay there next year!!

If you can afford it and it is your dream, then go for it. Really, only you can decide if it is worth it. Personally, I would go for it

If it is your dream do it. There still is a fair amount of construction there so just be prerpared for that. We always stayed around the monorail loop and had a dream resort of the Boardwalk. We finally did it last year and were completely ecstatic. When you get a good deal and can swing it you should go for it!

Do it. Otherwise your whole stay at CBR you'll be kicking yourself and wondering why you didn't splurge.(Unless you really love really bright green!)
My dh always says, "The difference between a mediocre vacation and a really WOW! vacation is usually a matter of a few hundred dollars." We splurged there once a few years ago on a 4 nt stay in Sept with free dining. I loved it but dh kept getting lost thinking all the buildings looked alike to him. Still, we're glad we tried it! Sept rates are really good overall anyway so if there's ever a time to try a more expensive hotel, that's the time!
Call and ask if you can still use the same magic bands. I believe you can if you keep the same reservation #.

If you can afford it and ok with the cost, go for it! Next year/time it'll be even more expensive. You have what sounds like a plan to stay at the resort more often anyway, poly is not a bad choice for that!

Do it.

Wow. I wish my DH always said that. :) hahhaha

He's very supportive of all of our vacations but doesn't put enough thought into them to be able to make such an astute observation.

I would definitely do it if you have the means to. $550 more for your dream resort doesn't sound so terrible.

Yes, I just returned from my first Poly stay and the first room they gave me was facing construction and we were on the 3rd floor so you could see over the walls. It is a little hard to pretend you are in a tropical paradise when all you see is a bulldozer. Luckily they were able to switch us no problem so then the construction caused no issues, however the main lava pool was quite crowded at a time when other resort pools I have been to were not so I am not sure if the quiet pool being closed had anything to do with it or if it was just a fluke.

Oh neither does mine but back 24 years ago when we were first dating I surprised him with a trip to Orlando for his birthday. I was only 24 and had only been out of college 1 year after working PT to pay for school myself. I was still pretty broke and didn't have very high standards for travel, so I booked an economy size car and a room at the Quality Inn on International Drive. Being 9 yrs older than me he was used to vacationing in a bit nicer places so ever since then he encouraged me to not just choose the cheapest simply because it's cheapest.
He also doesn't feel the need to vacation as often as I like to so in that area we tend to disagree. He'd rather go less often and really do it up, stay deluxe, etc. I'd rather go a little cheaper and more often. We both compromise a little now. :goodvibes

Stay at CBR and send me $500.

You'll feel great because you made a stranger happy and saved $50 in the process.

Personally, I wouldn't do it during construction...but if it's your dream and you can afford it, then enjoy.

We stayed at the Poly most recently in June and will be at CBR in 10 days! We like CBR, but if I could switch to the Poly for $550, I would in a heartbeat.
