should I ride the mummy?

I hate roller coasters but can tolerate thunder mountain and love spider man. Do you think I can ride the Mummy ride?

What do you dislike about coasters? The coaster portion of Mummy isn't long, but its definitely a coaster and more intense than Thunder Mountain (there is a launch into the coaster part).

I would have to know what you don't like first. My ds LOVES BTM but absolutely HATED The Mummy and I can guarantee you he will never ever set foot on it again. I really think with the Mummy it was the anticipation and the themeing that was just too much for him.

I do not enjoy coasters much. I thought BTMRR was my limit, but I found that I actually enjoyed the Mummy. The theming mainly, but I did not find the coaster part too extreme.

My husband is not a fan of coasters but wanted to try mummy and loved it for the theming. That being said I have a sister who hates roller coasters and I don't ever recommend she set foot on it . At one point during the roller coaster ride I contemplated how horrible it would be for my family waiting outside if I had a heart attack and died on that roller coaster.

I have to admit I do not think BTM is any indication of if you would enjoy it or not.

Oh and FWIW I loved it (terror and all)

My wife hates roller coasters because of the drops (kinda the point of rollercoasters). She might be able to handle Thunder Road because it mostly hugs the ground.

After much coaxing she tried The Mummy, and now she loves it. However, after the first ride, she was extremely hesitant to go back on. (It took her until the next year). Because it is dark, she perceived the coaster portion bigger than it actually was. After looking at the building it was in and knowing it can't be any taller than that, she tried it again. This time she focused on looking at the tracks and realized how close to the ground it actually was.

For comparison, the most "extreme" coaster that she will ride is "Flight of the Hippogriff" - and she considers that more scary than Mummy.

I would say you definitely should at least try it since it is a world class ride and one of the best in the park. I would definitely not consider it a traditional coaster. I would consider it a fast ride (it gets fast after the theme ride aspect to it). But it is super smooth, not jarring at all, I love it. And i hate herky jerky coasters, and will not ride wooden coasters for this reason. But the Mummy is great.

my father hates roller coasters. he goes on them with his grandsons but really doesn't like most of them. he does love the mummy!

I absolutely hate roller coasters with big drops, upside downs, and corkscrews. The Mummy has none of that. I love the Mummy, and usually go on with my son 2-3 times each visit. While I tolerate Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain.....I l really enjoy the Mummy.

Thank you! I hate drops on coasters and heights and being high up and then dropping. Love soarin though and smooth rides. Test track speed doesnt bother me.

I agree. I can't wait until DS agrees to go on it, and hope that someday DH will be able to ride it.

Hippogriff goes high, that's for sure! I don't particularly mind being on it, but when I see my son (who takes on the appearance of a 2 year old at such times in my eyes) alllll the way up there in the front seat, I start worrying about gravity and physics and such.

Give it a try. It's a blast and only you will know if it's too much. I doubt that it will be.

It took me forever to get myself on the Mummy. I'm such a chicken and get very anxious when trying new things, but Mummy is now one of my favorite rides. Definitley try it!

The coaster portion is only 21 seconds - 15 seconds for the first part, 6 seconds for the second part. I had to time it for my wife, who doesn't like coasters. Mummy wound up being her favorite ride of the trip - she did it at least 5 times
