Should I ride Mission Space?

Wanted to get some input on Mission Space. Have never ridden it before, but am concerned about potential motion sickness. I hardly ever experience motion sickness myself (only twice in 43 years, both times while on a boat). Can do Rock and Roller Coaster and California Screamin' over and over without any problems. But have a friend who did MS last year and got so motion sick, it ruined the rest of her day [she said she hardly ever gets motion sickness].

What are your opinions? Am going in 3 weeks and am hesitant about it. Thanks for the input!

Personally I don't think it it that bad but I have ridden it mutliple times. If you have done RnR than you can do Mission Space. It is a little different than any other ride I have been on, the wieghtlessness feeling is truly unique. DW didn't like it as much as I did and felt a little woozy afterwards but she was glad she did it once.

Just don't go with a full or empty stomach. Unless you are prone to motion sickness you should try it once.

Good luck and have fun

I do get motion sickness fairly easy when things spin. AKA, I'm okay on ToT, RnR, but prone to get sick on Tea cups! I wanted to try MS and did. Followed advice to keep your head still and facing straight at the screen. I had no trouble with it. My husband is the same way. It's not one of my favorite attractions, but I didn't get sick. Will ride it again on our next trip with DD6 who can't wait to try it!

Some advice that I found on the boards when I was trying to decide to go on it.
1. Take a dramamine the night before you are to go on mission space.
2. If you are really concerned about getting sick, do the ride at night so if you get sick, it won't ruin your day.
3. When on the ride, do not look away from the screen and don't close your eyes. I repeat keep you eyes opened and looking at the screen.
When I heard that it is just like the ride where you go in a circle and they drop the floor, I was very hesistant to go on because I can't handle rides that go in circles. However you are watching a video and you really don't feel like you are going in a circle. It does feel like the skin on your face weighs a ton. I took the dramamine and stood in line with my ds with the idea that I can chicken out anytime before entering the capsule. The warnings alone will make you nervous so prepared to hear them over and over again. Finally, when I entered the capsule I picked up a barf bag just in case. I did not get sick. I have heard people who go on roller coasters all the time get sick on mission space. There is no way of knowing if you will get sick or not. The best thing to do is ride it once and hope for the best.

I have never had a problem with motion sickness. Never even had morning sickness with my son. I have a stomach of steel. I have never gotten sick on a ride, EVER!

That is, until MS. I never actually tossed my cookies, but I was really close. I then felt yucky for a couple hours after. Queesy and head-achy. We went straight back to the hotel, where I popped some Tylenol and closed my eyes for a while.

My advice if you are going to try it, try it at the end of your park day.

You need a point of reference (something that isnt moving ) for you to tell that you are spinning. Its an enclosed capsule thus no outside source that isnt moving so it just feels like you are going forward really fast.
Once you close your eyes though you will get the sensation that you are moving. KEEP THEM OPEN like Buzz said.

Dh and I followed all instructions and felt awful after MS. Wont ride again b/c we spent the rest of our day sick to our stomachs with headaches.

We were nervous in line, but after riding it, we kept riding over and over. I couldn't tell I was spinning at all...but it does put you back in the seat. I was hitting all the buttons and had my hand on the joystick trying to fly the thing (even though it really does nothing)....reminds me of the feeling you get on an airplane when you start down the runway during takeoff....only it pins you more than that but nowhere near as bad as I had heard about.

Only way to know is to try it...
