Should I really get the park hopper option?

I have been planning all along to get the park hopper option on our tickets, but I just finished (yeah, right) my itinerary and there is only one day out of the 8 that we plan to park hop. But I can easily change that. We were just going over to EPCOT for a dinner and I can move that dinner to the night we go to EPCOT. Sooooooo, should I still get it. There's 5 of us so that is a savings of $200!

We found with good planning it wasn't necessary. You can always add it while you're down there if you run into a spot where you need it such as to get away from an overly crowded park. We always get the plus pack so if we end up needing some more time to finish AK or DS, we just go after we get done at the water park. No Hopper needed for that.

I see you are going in early December. You'll find that most of the parks close early this time of year 6-7pm. I use the park hopper to go over to Epcot when all the other parks are closed. I just can't get enough ;) and Epcot will be open until 9:30 in early December.

We found that in the off-season when the parks close early EVERYONE goes to EPCOT.

I would never vacation in Walt Disney World without a Park Hopper Ticket...you never know what may come up...

I wouldn't get it if you don't need it or not going to use it. It is useful for shorter visits though.

Another vote for going ahead with the Park Hoppers. We went (DD5, DS3) in January with very low crowds and still absolutely loved to park hop. My kids are totally into meeting characters so we'd go to MK in the morning to ride rides and hop over to MGM in the afternoon for characters. My train-loving kids also absolutely loved to hop from MK to Epcot (or vice-versa) on the monorail. We were in the parks 8 days and I think we hopped four of them. I think that in low crowd, lower temperature times park hopping is a great way to take a mid-day break. Though I must admit, my weird children love Disney transportation as much as the parks :teeth:

Why restrict yourself, plans could change and you may want to hop over to another park unexpectedly, having the hopper, you'll be ready. Knowing you have it, you may want to even do it more often.

i usally do animal kingdom and mgm in the same day. so i get the hopper also if you plan on going for extra magic hours at night i go to another park in the day go back to resort swim and go for the hours it all depends on if you want to eat at the park too i like to res in epcot so 2 days to eat there and hop to mk or mgm i tend to hop alot so you need to think if being in the same park all day is ok then no hop but if you want to go to other parks due to crowding or dinning get the hop

While I admit we are a family of non park hoppers, I really do not think it is worth $200 just to pop hop once.

Completely agree with this... Can't imagine doing Disney without the flexability of a Park Hopper! One of the extras that is worth the money.

I can't imagine Disney without the ability to park hop. Sometimes it gets very crowded in the park you're in and it ceases to be fun. It's nice to be able to go to another park and escape the crowded one. I was there last year in early December, and it was nice to be able to go to MGM one night for Fantasmic, and the next night for the Osborne lights, having spent most of the day in other parks. Also, we were able to leave MGM after Fantasmic and hop to the Magic Kingdom just to see Wishes again. You have so much more flexibility, and with the Magic Your Way tickets, the prices are so much better than they used to be, it's still a good value.

We are a family of 5 who has been to Disney several times and we are not getting the hopper option and will gladly pocket the $200! :) If it were just my husband and myself I would probably go with the hopper but touring with 3 kids we take it slower and get to bed earlier.

We will be there the last week in August and are planning to go to a water park each morning and then visit a theme park in the evening. I think this will be enough jumping around for the kids. I planned our ADR's accordingly. I know if we get to the parks and feel an overwhelming urge to hop we can add the hopper option on any day at any park. Why don't you wait and see?

Our kids will be 5, 8 & 11 on our trip.

Park hopping is not an "option" for me but a must ;)

I end up in EPCOT a lot at the end of the day so I guess I need it. :thumbsup2

Whatever your choice, enjoy your stay at WDW :thumbsup2 :sunny:
