Should I plan to go to the parks with EMHs or avoid them?

I'm wondering if anyone has had luck with the evening EMH when they go well after midnight. I have heard that the later the EMH the more the crowds thin out. We are heading to WDW in just under 3 weeks, and on our first night we are hoping to stay at MK until 2 or 3 am (we are night people and really like the idea of being up that late at MK). I'm just hoping that the later we stay the lighter the crowds. (We are hoping for the same thing during Christmas week this year). Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!
We were at MK for the late night EMHs earlier this week and found it to be very nice. The park closed to non-resort guests at midnight. Right after WISHES, the crowd cleared out a lot and we were able to walk right into Small World, Mickey's Philharmagic, Buzz Lightyear (twice in a row) and Stitch. It looked like small lines at Space Mountain. We left about 1:15 because we were tired, but wished we could have stayed later because we could have seen a lot.
