Should I pay EBCI with Southwest. Have 2 kids 6 and 9

I did not read the responses. I have kids the same age. I do not purchase EBCI for everyone, I just buy it for myself. You can do this after you make your initial reservation - just add it for one person. Husband waits with the kids. I then go on and get four seats together for all of us. If you go to the back of the plane you can generally get seats together.

You will once a flight attendant tells you it's against SWA's policy for one to hold seats. It happens

That's great until someone sits in one of the seats you are saving. The seat belongs to the person whose butt is in it.

How do you save 4 seats? I have seen people manage with 1. Generally the middle seat. I have done that one myself but that really just means managing to not have two people sit in the window and aisle next to me, since no single person is going to want my middle seat until the plane is mostly full anyway.

I have seen a few manage it with two espeically if the people they were waiting for was just mid to high b.

I haven't ever seen it work for more then a row. I have seen people try but seen others just go and sit in the seat anyway. There is no real policy on seat saving being allowed or not so most of the time the flight attendants won't tell anyone they can't save seats but if someone just sits in your saved seat anyway they won't make them leave.

It's true there's no formal policy against saving seats. But I have seen flight attendants remind people who are saving seats that it's open seating and if someone wants to sit there, they can do that. This mostly happens when it's nearing the end of the boarding process and seats are slim pickings.

Personally, I would avoid the potentially contentious situation and just pay for EBCI for everyone in my family than go through the hassle of saving seats and ticking off your neighbors for the next however many hours.
