Well..we were planning to go to the world Dec 5-10..we booked at 11 months at SSR (which we really don't like) but planned to move somewhere else today...well there is literally nothing available for all of our dates..our best bet is AKV which has 4 of our nights. We could take that and waitlist the rest....but I really didnt' want to stay ther bc we have stayed there alot. Also, we are staying offsite the 10th-12th so I don't want to risk not getting the waitlist and having to stay at 3 places in one week.

Second option is to switch to the 12-17th at disney..this means however that I will not be home til the 20th..that is really close to christmas and I worry I will be stressed about it...Not sure which to do.. I really would prefer to stay at BCV, VWL, BWV...BLT is a wish but I know not really likely at this point to get a studio..What would you do?

btw..I knew this might happen so I am not complaining about it..just wondering what I should do.

If you are really set on staying at a different resort, I would change the dates. Don't worry about getting home too close to Christmas -- just get your shopping done before you leave for vacation! The only thing you may encounter is higher airfare for your flight home since you are only 5 days before Christmas.

If it will really be too much stress for you (and I'm sure you don't need that), then just stay at SSR and enjoy your vacation there. Waitlist your entire trip and see if it comes through. You still have 7 months for it to work for you. You can stay at a different resort when you travel at a less popular DVC time.

Good luck with your decision!

I would waitlist for the 2 resorts I really wanted, for all of the nights, keep the dates the same and hope for pixie dust!

I'd waitlist your current dates. Last year we waitlisted a studio at VWL for December 10-15 and it came through. My belief is there's a bunch of folks who book at 11 months then their plans change, opening up the waitlists.

What's the worst case...you'll be at WDW at SSR...maybe not exactly where you wanted to stay but you'll be in a nice room on property.

When I was in your situation in the first year we bought I changed the dates rather than waitlist. Just felt better about staying places I wanted to stay that I knew I had rather than risking the waitlist. The time you are looking at seems to have the least amount of movement in waitlists so I'd be looking at it as if nothing would change from what I could book right now.

By going later you could plan to have a lot more prepared for Christmas before you left - just timing.

I'm trying to work out a late November/early December trip too. I made my home resort reservation for the dates we really wanted at 11 months out. I picked another set of dates we could live with if we got the units we wanted. Now I have a reservation for the units I want during my second choice dates and am waitlisted for those units during my first choice dates. I figure it might just come through as people move around this month. If so, great. If not, we know we have a reservation that we are happy with. You might do something similar and keep the waitlist for what you really want until you have to solidify your plans. Frankly now I am wonder if I should stick with the backup reservation!

Good luck!

I would go ahead and waitlist and see what happens as people start moving their reservations around at the 7 month mark. Failing that, I really don't think that getting back home 5 days before Christmas is too bad. The holidays are always hectic anyway (for us at least) and only having 5 days versus 10 or 15 really doesn't mean much. Either way, good luck! :goodvibes

That's what I would do, too. Specifically, I would probably waitlist BWV preferred view and BLT lake view because I think those would be the 2 most likely to come through. BCV and VWL as well as more poplular categories at BWV and BLT seem like they would be harder to get.

Thanks guys!!:thumbsup2

We decided to not waitlist. We are going to try for the following week. We can call on the 10th to try for Dec 10-17th..if that doesn't work, we have a back up. We booked BWV for November..the week before thanksgiving. I am happy with my decision bc either way I can't lose. I really wanted to do December bc we have never done MVMCP..but I would be very happy with November too.:)
The only downer is that the autotrain is going to be a little more money bc we are switching..oh well.

You're definitely win-win then b/c MVMCP is in November also. :thumbsup2 What you wouldn't see is the Candlelight processional.
