Should I link my new ticket to my old magic band?

I have a Magicband from our trip 2 years ago. We didn't end up using them because we bought military tickets. The Magicbands were being tested then & the consensus on these boards was that linking the tickets to the bands were creating lots of issues. So we will be buying military tickets again this year. Should I link them to my band or not?

You certainly can do that, should be fine. Long range RFID may not work, used for ride photos mostly, due to possible battery having drained. Short range for entry, fastpasses, etc, will work fine. If you are staying on site, you will get new ones.

Put the ticket number into your MyDisneyExperience account.
That will enable any MagicBand assigned to you to access your ticket.

Then, take both your MB and your plastic ticket with you to the parks.
Use the MB. If there is any trouble, you can just switch to using the plastic ticket, instead.

You really don't link it to the band, you link it to your MDE account.

Thanks everyone for the replies! Just to add a degree of difficulty-it looks like I at one point made 2 different MDE accounts. My magic band is on one account, and then the other account is the account I normally use that has my kids' bands and my family and friends. Do you think Disney would be able to merge them for me?

Yes.

But, YOU can just "join" the other account with yours (or vice versa) and all FP+, etc. can be made, adjusted, etc.
from one account.
