Trying to decide if wcc is a good choice for our last night's dinner at wdw. We will be going to AK that day and no hoppers so deciding on a resort ts on the dining plan.

I've tried getting Ohana's, but it's booked. We're already doing California Grill and 1900 Park fare and Kona for breakfast one day.

Do you think Whispering Canyon Cafe is a good choice or would you suggest something different?? Also, We've never dined here before.

Thanks!

I think you should try it. I had super low expectations of it last time we were in WDW. It was our last meal, I read bad reviews and of all my reservations it was one I was looking forward to the least. It turned out to be great! The food was delicious. Best pulled pork I've ever had and I'm from the south. Our server was fantastic! The whole experiance was wonderful. We are even going back this trip.

I love WCC. We went there with tempered expectations and left very satisfied. It seems the places I have the highest expectations I'm left feeling disappointed (Le'Cellier), and the places with my lowest expectations (Ohana, WCC) I leave satisfied.

I would rather dine in or near the park I'm in if it was MY last day. I have eaten at both Tusker House and Yak & Yeti in AK and they're both good. I LOVE Yak & Yeti!!!! The food and atmosphere are both great!! Just my 2 cents.

I thought it was fun but I don't think we'll rush back.

But coming up on our last night we are going to Boma. My favorite! Can't wait!

Thanks for the input. I hate how i love reading dining reviews because it makes me not want to try new places. Just because others didn't enjoy it, doesn't mean i won't!

Yes, you should keep your WCC adr. We went to WCC on our last trip, and I was surprised at how much I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is fun and festive. The food was really delicous also. I think if you try it you'll enjoy it.

I enjoyed WCC, but we are loud people and like the fun atmosphere, food was good too.

If not WCC, maybe try another resort dining choice- BOMA at AKL, since you are doing AK that day? just hop on over to the lodge and enjoy the buffet there?

Or try the Boardwalk area- lots of good dining choices there between the BW, BC etc.

I would do Boma, on an AK day. The food is really good and they have reg. kid food on the buffet if your kids aren't adventurous. WCC is okay, but I would travel from AK to go there. Maybe do WCC on a MK day.

We haven't done WCC yet, but it's one of the ADR's I'm looking forward to most in April!

I was really worried about this meal from all the reviews but when we went we thought it was actually very good not our favorite of the trip (Jiko:cloud9:) but still very good in fact the pulled pork was fantastic. I say that if you like the sound of the menu items try it!

What isWCC?:confused3

Is there a list of abbreviations anywhere on this message board?:cutie:

Whispering Canyon Cafe (WCC) in the Wilderness Lodge (WL) :thumbsup2

I'm not sure if there is a list of abbreviations anywhere, but if someone knows I'm sure they will post it!

To answer the OP - my family really enjoyed the WCC. We went in with basically zero expectations, though. We had a good server and while she was in the part, she wasn't overly into her role. Everyone enjoyed their meal and my son still talks about his "endless" shakes. :) I think it's worth giving a shot!

WCC = Whispering Canyon Cafe :) I'm not sure if there is a abbreviations list. you just kinda pick up on it all after awhile! Kinda happens being a Disney Freak! haha

I would also keep WCC. I have seen a list of abbreviations posted--not sure where now. Maybe try to do a search.

We will never eat at WCC again...the food was gross.

I would go to GFC or The Wave

Trying to decide if wcc is a good choice ...AK that day and no hoppers ...dining plan...Do you think Whispering Canyon Cafe is a good choice or would you suggest something different?...
Good choice? not for us...for you? maybe. I would not recommend WCC to my anyone. I know the name and description may sound inviting and while you will read mixed reviews it really comes down to experiencing it for yourself. Our experience was the best salty and greasy food at WDW coupled with marginal service as our server catered to one table and neglected the other six tables...and this was lunch too.

We loved it - bt one thing I've learned from these boards and many trips - you can't tell by other's opinions - go try it yourself! For example I went to Ohana last trip because everyone RAVES about it and it was our worst meal of the trip (besides dessert obviously)...whereas I love both WCC and Kouzzina which always get flamed!

At WCC, the skillet is fantastic, as is the pasta dish, the meatloaf...etc etc. I also LOVE their desserts - both the apple pie and the cheesecake are great...

And FYI I tried these delicious menu items over a series of trips...not all one one, for anyone concerned about my multitude of entrees topped with 2 desserts :rotfl:

We went to WCC on teh first night of our last trip- worst meal of the trip. If it was my last meal I would have been really disappointed!

Foodwise, it was nothing special. if you are going for the atmosphere, and you think it is somethign that would interest you, then sure. We went because it was supposed to be such a good time for the kids but even our kids were bored. It is VERY loud and with the exception of the ridiculously overused "We need ketchup" joke (I mean really, it was every 2 minutes, it wasn't funny or unexpected) there was no comedy to it at all.

However, others have reported a very different experience!
